When Mickle Trafford Methodist Church was closed, there was some doubt about what might happen to the WW1 memorial to those who served in the parish which was on the wall inside. It is great to hear from Cllr Margaret Parker that its future has now been secured and that it will be restored before going on display in the Village Hall. It was available for residents to see yesterday during the village celebrations. How fantastic that this important local history will be there for future generations to view and reflect upon.

Just yesterday, Pope Francis took part in Easter celebrations, offering his final Easter blessing and a message of peace to the world.

In his final public words, he urged us to be “pilgrims of hope” and to seek the risen Christ in our daily lives. Even in his final hours, he embodied the compassion and humility that defined his papacy.

Our prayers are with Catholics across the world. May he rest in the peace of the Risen Lord.

Pope Francis died on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.
