The revelations from ITV's undercover investigation into Reform UK are deeply disturbing.

Racist remarks, threats of violence and vile comments about women, all coming from people elected to represent their communities.

These aren't just random people making offensive comments online. They're elected councillors, entrusted with representing residents and making decisions on their behalf.

Nigel Farage and Reform UK have serious questions to answer about how these individuals were selected, vetted and allowed to represent the party.

People deserve better from those who seek public office, regardless of political party.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham was absolutely right when he said:

“We've allowed a poison into our politics in recent years and it's time to draw a line on it.”

A good afternoon out in Winsford yesterday, catching up with local residents alongside Dan Price for Cheshire & Warrington 🌹

There's plenty happening in and around our town, and plenty more we'd like to see.

From reliable buses and better connections to neighbouring towns, to local jobs, skills, opportunities for young people and continued improvements to our town centre.

We believe the best way to understand what matters to people is to get out and speak to them.

It's our town, our community and our future, and everyone should have a say in it.

Today Andy Burnham set out a clear vision for where he wants to take the country.

A country where your opportunities aren't determined by your postcode. Where power sits closer to the communities it affects. And where we confront the big challenges, like social care, rather than leaving them for the next generation.

There are no easy answers to some of the problems Britain faces, and government can't simply wish them away. It takes difficult choices, long-term thinking and the courage to make the case for change.

Andy's vision is rooted in Labour values, with the ambition to change what isn't working and the confidence to offer something better. 🌹

🎪 Five weeks later…

Nigel Farage has won the Clacton by-election and become MP for Clacton. Again.

After resigning his seat, forcing an unnecessary by-election and spending weeks campaigning against a bloke with a bin on his head to win back the job he already had, we've ended up exactly where we started.

Meanwhile, Labour has been getting on with governing:
⚡ Cutting the cost of energy
🚌 Bringing back the £2 bus fare
🍺 Backing pubs, music venues and our high streets
💷 Taking action on rip-off pricing and subscription traps
🏘️ Getting on with delivering the change people voted for

And now the circus is over, the serious questions that were there when Farage resigned are still there.

Farage has ended the summer exactly where he started. Labour has been getting on with the job.
