Do you know what to do if someone went into cardiac arrest?

Our fantastic Education Team is in the Main Entrance at Chesterfield Royal Hospital until 3pm today, showcasing lifesaving CPR techniques and helping people learn how to respond in an emergency.

Come along, say hello and learn some vital skills that could one day save a life!

💙🩷 We are honoured to be taking part in the annual Wave of Light event across the UK this evening.

💙🩷 Tonight, at 7pm, parents and families affected by baby loss are invited to place a candle in their window in their memory – producing a ‘wave of light’ across the country.

💙🩷 Please feel welcome to place a picture of your candle in the comments to share the memory of your baby.

❄As the weather begins to change, we are also seeing a rise in seasonal illnesses at the hospital. Please help us to stop the spread of these by taking a few simple steps:

🫱Wash your hands regularly with soap and warm water and use a hand sanitiser if you’re out and about.

🏥If you have symptoms such as sickness or diarrhoea, please don’t visit the hospital until you’ve been symptom‑free for 48 hours.

💧Keep hydrated and rest if you’re unwell.

💉Please ensure that your flu – and if eligible, Covid - vaccinations are up to date.

Did you know that there are over fourteen disciplines of colleagues who make up the third biggest workforce in the NHS?

Our Allied Health Professionals work with patients and through the community every day to make a real difference to the lives of others and today, on AHPsDay, we want to say thank you.

Our teams of Occupational Therapists (OT), Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists (SLT), Operating Department Practitioners (ODP), Dietitians, Radiographers, Orthoptists are all vital to the patient journey and their recovery.

💙 We’d like to thank Chesterfield MG Group for their kind donation of £800 to Chesterfield Royal Hospital Trust Charity which will be used to support patient care in our NGS Macmillan Centre here at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

🚗 John Wilson, past President said: “Every year we have a road run, and the funds are donated to a charity which is decided by our committee. The run is the main one of the year, and we elected that the funds raised would go to Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

“Our runs go round the Peak District; it’s a beautiful area and people like to drive around it. All contributors pay an entry fee, and they get a route and a board that goes on the car and then whatever is left goes to charity.

“We chose Chesterfield Royal Hospital Trust Charity because it’s local and a lot of people - myself included - have been treated here so it’s important to us, we value your services and we want to give something back.”

💬 Sheree Hall Divisional Lead Nurse for Cancer Services said: “I would like to say thank you to everyone at Chesterfield MG Group and everyone who supported them. This very kind donation will really help to support patient care. Through donations like this we can continue to support complementary therapies which we deliver in the NGS Macmillan unit – it’s the nearest free complimentary therapies, otherwise patients would have to travel to Sheffield.

“We are so grateful for the support we have continued to receive from our community and from groups like Chesterfield MG Group. Thank you – this will make a big difference to patient care and help to keep our services local.”

🏆 National Gold Awards for Chesterfield Royal Hospital and DSFS 🏆

We're proud to announce that Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services (DSFS) have won two Gold awards at the Awards for Excellence in Waste Management for the NHS in England 2026.

The awards recognise projects that are helping to reduce waste, improve sustainability and make better use of NHS resources.

🥇 Best Reduction of Single Use Items
Recognising a project that reduced unnecessary single-use items used during clinical procedures, saving both money and carbon emissions.

🥇 Best Reuse Initiative of the Year
Recognising our Linen Return Project, which encourages patients to return hospital-issued pyjamas and linen so they can be reused through the Trust's standard laundering process.

These awards highlight how simple, practical changes can make a real difference for the environment while supporting high-quality patient care.

💚 A huge thank you to all the colleagues and patients who have supported these initiatives.

🏅Recently we shared with you that we had achieved GOLD status for our work supporting the Armed Forces Covenant.

🏅We were further honoured to be presented with our GOLD award at a ceremony hosted by the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme last week – and are now looking forward to displaying this to showcase our commitment to the care and wellbeing of our Armed Forces community.

🎖️The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, (ERS) recognises the commitment to the care and wellbeing of the Armed Forces community. The scheme ensures that eligible organisations can achieve bronze, silver or gold awards by pledging, demonstrating and advocating values in line with the Armed Forces Covenant.

💬Claire Lambie, Head of Operations, and Armed Forces Network Lead said: “We were honoured to hear that we had received this award in July and it’s thrilling to now be able to share the award with our colleagues and community.

💙🩷 We are proud to honour the babies we have lost as part of Baby Loss Awareness Week.

💙🩷 The week is a time for raising awareness around baby loss and to show support to families who have experienced the devastation of their loss, whether during pregnancy, birth or infancy.

💙🩷 Today, Monday, 12 October and Tuesday, 13 October we are hosting a stall in our main entrance which offers support and information, but also the opportunity to remember and pay tribute to your baby by writing their name on a ribbon.
