The team at Whyke Community Food Hub were delighted to welcome The Mayor of Chichester, Cllr Sean McHale, last Friday.
Cllr McHale is a proud supporter of UKHarvest and wanted to come and see what we do at our hubs, and how we support communities around Chichester and across West Sussex throughout the week.
The Mayor spent the session talking to our volunteers and those using the food hub saying “This was my first visit to a UKHarvest Food Hub, and I was struck by the warm atmosphere and the enthusiasm of both the volunteers and the customers. Reducing food waste is so important, and the work UKHarvest does, along with the education they provide and the opportunities they offer the community is truly wonderful.”
It was a thrill to have Cllr McHale at our hub, and we would all like to thank him for his time, his consideration and his kind words about the service we offer to all.
Community Food Hubs are not means tested, do not require food vouchers or a referral. We welcome anyone who is in need of topping up their food shop, struggling with accessing food or who simply wants to help UKHarvest's mission to fight food waste.
If you would like to find out where you nearest hub is, please visit our website https://www.ukharvest.org.uk/education/community-food-hub.
We'll be at The Sylvia Beaufoy Centre in Petworth from 10am tomorrow and Swanfield Community Centre in Chichester from 2pm. Come along, bring a carrier bag and take home some amazing rescued food!
