Are you someone with a Local Connection to West Wittering and in need of housing?

The new housing development at Church Road in West Wittering includes the provision of 18 Affordable Homes: 12 for rent and 9 for purchase. The rented homes will be owned by Vivid Housing; a Registered Provider of affordable homes and we are expecting them to become available late March/early April 26.

To be eligible for the rented homes you must be on the Housing Register with Chichester District Council.

If you are not yet registered and think you might be eligible then please register with CDC using the link in the comments below.

The 12 rented homes include 6x one beds, 4x two beds and 2 x three beds. Priority for these will be given to local households with a connection to West Wittering who are in housing need.

Congratulations to Westbourne Parish Council and the Westbourne Community Trust for completing this scheme and providing affordable homes for 12 local households.
Developing a Community Land Trust remains an objective of the Neighbourhood Plan for West Wittering.

🔑 Holding the key to secure homes!
It was a special morning celebrating the success of the Westbourne Community Land Trust, who welcomed twelve local families into their new homes last week.
The homes were offered to families with a local connection to Westbourne, offered at a social rent, which will remain in perpetuity.
This has been a huge project for the Westbourne CLT, who have overcome so many barriers to finally deliver these lovely homes, creating a blueprint for other CLTs in the local area to hopefully deliver similar schemes.

I met with the Housing Minister earlier this year to ask him to make it easier for CLTs to deliver affordable and social housing in their area by making the process less bureaucratic!

A big well to all those involved, especially the trustees, who never gave up and have made twelve families very happy in Westbourne!

Chichester Harbour Conservancy welcomes the ban on selling plastic wet wipes that has been signed into law in England today. Plastic and microplastic pollution have a significant impact on the water quality and marine and coastal life of Chichester Harbour. Microplastics have been found within our shellfish, and wet wipes are known to cause significant issues for the treatment of sewage and wastewater. They block pipes and cause fatbergs which cost millions of pounds to clear, money that should be spent on infrastructure improvements to improve our water quality.

🚽No such thing as a flushable wet wipe🚽
However, it is not only plastic wet wipes that cause issues within the treatment of our wastewater. Biodegradable wet wipes labelled as “flushable” can still cause blockages with an impact on our environment.

What you can do - the “Three Ps” 🧻💩💧
The advice on wet wipes is clear, do not flush ANY wet wipe down the toilet. Only the “three Ps” should be flushed – p*e, poo and (toilet) paper.
