Regulars at the Tigers Head pub have just a few days left to down their favourite tipple before a month-long closure starts to refurbish the locally-listed building on Watts Lane.
Scaffolding was erected on Monday and the doors are set to close on Friday at the latest or before if the taps run dry!
New carpets and furniture are planned, plus a revamped b**r garden. It will be freshly painted and new signage and lighting at the front and side will go ahead despite worries from some local residents.
The Greene King pub will have a new post-mounted outside sign, featuring a full colour illustration of a tiger's head, and a fresh entrance sign above the main doors. Lettering on the side of the building will also be replaced, with new floodlights planned.
A Bromley Council planning officer revealed objections were received to the original plans, raising concerns about "damage to a historic building", "excessive visual clutter" and "harsh light pollution" for pedestrians.
But he added: “The refurbishment does not appear excessive given that it is a pub. The proposed signs are of a sympathetic design and not result in a detrimental impact on the conservation area.”
