🩷 It was great to drop in to speak with SAMH about their Wee Pink Dot campaign.

🧠 There is still so much stigma around mental health. When the fact is that we all have mental health that needs taken care of.

🗣️ Sometimes it suffers an injury, sometimes a circumstance can affect it, and sometimes we can have long term conditions that affect our lives in an ongoing impactful way.

🫶🏻 Please check out the campaign here https://www.samh.org.uk/get-involved/our-campaigns/show-up/wee-pink-dot , and do what you can to help support those affected by mental health issues. They need our support not our judgement.

🌸 I’m delighted to have lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament, recognising the fantastic efforts of the Glover Committee and wider community efforts in planning this year’s Glover Festival!

📍The event will take place from 1pm - 4pm on Sunday the 14th June, along Commerce Street in the Broch, filled with some great entertainment, stalls and activities!

👏🏻Last year’s inaugural festival was great, and I’m really looking forward to being there again this year and celebrating the history of Thomas Blake Glover.

🫶🏻Thanks to all involved for your hard work!

🌊 A very busy day meeting some of Fraserburgh’s finest on Friday! I caught up with Cllr Ann Bell about the 2nd Glover Festival taking place on the 14th June, and the newly constituted Friends of the Broch Hospital , then met with local fishers to talk policy.

🐟I popped in to see Albert at the Fraserburgh Fitness Centre then enjoyed a lovely lunch and catch up with Brian Topping at the Fisherman’s Mission.

🎨I ended the day by attending the ‘A Stranger on the Bars’ art exhibition at the Harbour building. A moving display celebrating the Broch’s fishing history. Fab to catch up with Pamela Neri and the Dygas there too!

☀️Thanks everyone for your time and a lovely day.

🚆 We need rail to Peterhead and Fraserburgh. We are the two largest towns in the whole of Scotland with no rail track.

🫱🏼‍🫲🏽 We need to work cross party to make this happen.

Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city, Aberdeenshire has a population matching the city. Yet the only railway stations in Aberdeenshire are the towns that happen to be on the intercity lines, and the city itself has only a single station.

It's time to fix this.

🏗️ Extending the East Coast Main Line northwards to Fraserburgh and Peterhead will breathe new life into the region, and boost Scotland's economy by making the region more attractive to investors, and retaining the skilled offshore workforce in the North East.

🚉 New Stations on the existing lines at Cove and Newtonhill, and exploring stations to the north like Kittybrewster and Bankhead will allow locals to choose the train more often.

🚂 Completing upgrades to the intercity lines between Aberdeen and the Central Belt will boost the economy as a while by tying our cities closer together, making it easier for business, tourist, and leisure travellers to get around Scotland. As well as adding capacity for a significant increase in rail freight, taking that load off our roads.

🎥My first speech this session was on Scotland’s energy, focused on Banffshire and Buchan Coast and the difficult questions you raised with me on the doors.

⚡From Buckie to Fraserburgh, St Fergus, Peterhead and Boddam, we help power the country, yet too many households are still paying through the nose.

🛢This is not oil and gas versus renewables, or workers versus climate. While we still need oil and gas, why should we depend more on imports and global shocks instead of domestic supply, produced by our own skilled workforce and under our own standards?

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Westminster still holds the key powers over energy. That must change. It is Scotland’s energy. It should be in Scotland’s hands.

🌿 The Vinery is a key priority of mine, and today I was able to secure a commitment to get Scottish Government help.

➡️ I’ll be discussing further with the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice and will keep you updated.
