EIA Porto 2026, that’s a wrap! 🇵🇹🚀

Three weeks. Countless ideas. One incredible community. 💚

From meeting as strangers to building startups together, EIA Porto has been filled with big ideas, late nights, pivots, pitches, new friendships and plenty of moments we won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

On Friday, we brought it all together for the EIA Porto 2026 Grand Pitch, celebrating everything our participants have built and the journey it took to get there.

A huge congratulations to our Top 10 teams: Getbak, Ziva, Lusa, Solvo, Vizion, Innergrowthstudio, Suncheck, GRUZaiT, Seiva and Unicorporated! 👏🚀

And the celebrations didn’t stop with the Top 10! 🏆 We were incredibly grateful to see our partners recognise teams across EIA Porto with a range of additional awards and opportunities - from access to international finals and startup programmes to further funding opportunities. A huge thank you to all of our partners for continuing to support our founders beyond EIA and helping turn three weeks of innovation into opportunities that can take these startups even further. 🌍✨

To every participant, mentor, speaker, faculty member, partner and member of the EIA team who made these three weeks possible- thank you. The programme might be over, but for these startups, this is only the beginning.

Already missing EIA Porto? Because we are. 🥹

The EIA is in its final stretch, and we couldn’t help but highlight another important institutional partner: Unicorn Factory Lisboa .
Mariana Mendes Ribeiro is the Strategic Growth Manager at Unicorn Factory Lisboa and shared some important insights with us about our academy, its contributions to the Portuguese entrepreneurship ecosystem, and the key takeaways our students should keep in mind.

Mariana highlights three major contributions of the EIA: “international talent,” “the strongest connection between universities, startups, corporations, and investors,” and our program as “a meeting point where these different stakeholders collaborate from the very beginning, accelerating the transfer of knowledge to the market.” Furthermore, EIA also helps “strengthen Lisbon’s and Portugal’s international standing as a hub for innovation.”

Our mentor believes that “the goal should not be merely to train entrepreneurs for a few weeks, but to create the conditions so that some of these projects choose Portugal to continue growing.”

For Mariana Mendes Ribeiro, “these initiatives show participants that entrepreneurship is a collaborative journey,” because “no one builds a startup alone: it is built through networks, mentors, partners, and communities.”

We want to officially congratulate the Top 5 Award Team Winners of EIA London 2026. 🚀

Fanniceuticals, Mindofruba, Able, Atlas, and Eddy, thank you for showing what can happen when bold ideas meet courage, collaboration, and action.

These teams spent 15 intense days building, launching, testing, and refining their ideas, turning early concepts into something real. They are not just creating startups; they are taking the first steps toward shaping the future.

A special congratulations to Atlas and Fanniceuticals, who were awarded $20K USD in conditional investment to continue developing their ventures. 👏

We invite our community to follow, support, and engage with these future founders as they keep building beyond the program.

We also want to thank all the mentors who guided, challenged, and inspired our participants throughout this journey. Your support helped bring clarity, confidence, and light to the next generation of founders.

And to every team who took part in EIA London 2026: keep going. What you built here matters, and this is only the beginning of something much bigger.

The journey does not end here; in many ways, it is just getting started. 💚

Did you think your EIA experience would end in Porto? We’re giving you the chance to take your project to Finland—specifically to the city of Turku, which is experiencing significant growth and gaining visibility in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

One of the Top 10 teams from EIA Porto 2026 will have direct access to the finals of the Turku Startup Prize 2026, without having to compete. This access is in the “Early-Stage Growth Track” category, which includes a 10,000-euro prize and mentoring sessions. This category is designed for “early-stage ideas and concept-stage ventures ready to be validated and accelerated.” After your experience at EIA, don’t waste any more time—change your future now.

The awards ceremony will take place on September 16 and 17, with the application period running through August 10. Applications are open to anyone or any project—whether you’re a current or former EIA participant, or simply part of our community. In addition to the “Early-Stage Growth Track” category, you can also apply for the “ScaleUp Track,” which offers prizes of 25K plus Acceleration and is designed for startups with an established market presence seeking capital growth and strategic support. 🚀 Day 10 at European Innovation Academy Porto = Expo Day!

Today, our teams took to the expo floor to showcase the startups they’ve been building over the past two weeks. From innovative ideas to impressive prototypes, Expo Day was an opportunity to share their vision, connect with others, and receive invaluable feedback to help refine their ventures.

With Go-to-Market Week now ahead, we’re excited to see how each team takes those insights and transforms them into even stronger final pitches next week. 💡

Today also marked the final day with our incredible marketing mentors here in Porto. Thank you for sharing your expertise, challenging ideas, and helping our founders think bigger.

And, of course, we wrapped up a sunny day with some well-earned iced lollies on the rooftop terrace. 🍦☀️

Startup Portugal is one of the European Innovation Academy’s institutional partners, and this year we had the pleasure of welcoming Madalena Cardoso, Project Manager, to Porto, where she mentored our students. Here, Madalena Cardoso shares some of her reflections on the work she carried out during the programme in Porto:

“One of the most important lessons we can share is simple: a problem is only real once it has been validated. A common mistake founders make is building products around deeply held personal beliefs, rather than around problems that have been tested and confirmed in the real world. That is exactly what we have been working on over these first few days: defining a real problem and its audience. This early stage is about challenging assumptions, talking to users, and learning to tell the difference between what we believe is a problem and what people actually experience as one.”
