A visitor! Taken by a guest a few weeks ago. In the past year we've spotted quite a few deer on the hill behind Cnoc Ard. This was taken from the kitchen window and is the closest we've seen them come to the house.
Deer and stags are generally not aggressive towards humans 😊

Sad news... RIP Bruce Guthrie lead singer of Celtic rock band formed on Isle of Skye in the early 70's.

If you are looking for an interesting and enjoyable day out while staying at Cnoc Ard you can drive for half an hour to the ferry terminal at Sconser and cross to the small island of Raasay. There's a distillery that does tours and Raasay House with a cafe and meals available. the roads are largely single track and not in a particularly good condition but there are some really scenic and enjoyable walks.

In all the years of staying at Cnoc Ard and looking out the window at Dunvegan bay I've wanted to check out the house down below on the right and find out what was down at the shore at the end of the croft,
Last year I did the walk. I used to tell the kids the house was haunted and incredibly it turns out it was!!
After the house we walked down to the shore at the fish farm, I didn't know there were the ruins of a village there. Very interesting.
It was a great short walk, however, if anybody fancies it I'm not too sure about rights of access ( we had to clamber over a barbed wire fence ).
…and remember, don’t go near that house after dark!😀

It's just over a couple of weeks till Cnoc Ard opens for 2022. It's been closed for improvements and more are planned later in the year...we'll give more detail in the future.
Can we give a big thank you to all our visitors in 2021 and for the positive feedback we received in a difficult and unpredictable year for all of us.
Let's hope this year sees a return to some sort of normality.

People have asked when its best to see the Northern Lights from Cnoc Ard. Unfortunately it's difficult to predict. These pictures were taken last week close to the house. They're pretty good.🙂

Been a bit quiet on here since the pandemic restricted visits to Cnoc Ard. Happy to say that since the house reopened in late spring we have been very busy and it's a big thank you to all who have stayed. Here's a few pics from the past year.

Happy New Year from Cnoc Ard 🎉🎊.

We didn't have a lot to sing or dance about in 2020 so here's a video from a few years ago to cheer you up. It's by the Vatersay Boys. Lasts 10mins but the music keeps gathering pace so stick with it and get your feet tapping.

We would like to wish guests and all associated with Cnoc Ard a very Merry Xmas.
It has been a terrible year for all of us, however, everybody has been understanding of the ever changing circumstances. Let's hope for a very different 2021 where we can all travel freely and enjoy a normal life again. Stay safe 🙂
