⭐️ NEW YOUTH HUB FOR COLCHESTER ⭐️

I’m delighted that Colchester will be getting a new Youth Hub to support local young people with training, health, wellbeing and ensuring they get the very best opportunities.

I’ve been working hard with local young people and organisations to ensure we’re doing all we can to support the next generation and I’m excited about this further development funded by the Labour government.

We’re remembering Jo Cox in parliament and across the country today on the tenth anniversary of her brutal murder.

We have, as Jo so memorably said, more in common than that which divides us.

This morning we welcomed the Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, to Westminster. He gave those present a very stark account of life under Russian assault - an assault which reached a new level in Kyiv this weekend.
This afternoon I voted to extend sanctions against Russia as a member of a cross-party legislative committee, and then heard the Defence Secretary’s statement in the Commons on our military’s recent engagement with the Russian shadow fleet in the Channel. I’m proud that our government continues to stand with Ukraine.

It was a pleasure to attend the Royal Gun Salute in Castle Park this morning to mark the monarch’s official birthday. Colchester is honoured to be one of the country’s 12 Royal Saluting Stations. The salute was expertly fired by members of the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, part of 16 Air Assault Brigade.
We thank them for their service today and every day.

‼️Migrant care workers deserve a fair system📢

Care workers and UNISON members came together in Westminster today to highlight concerns about proposed changes to visa and settlement rules.

Migrant care workers make a vital contribution to our social care system here in Colchester, and many are worried about how these changes could affect their future and their families.

I met with campaigners and carers to listen to their experiences and I will continue raising these concerns to ensure the system is fair and supports the workforce our country depends on.
