Democratic Bloc to audit Your Party governance, democracy and compliance
after three more resignations from the CEC
The Democratic Bloc was founded on the following principle: ”The Democratic Bloc is a campaign dedicated to putting forward concrete democratic proposals to bring the new and would-be members together around a unifying, open and positive vision for how this new party should be run.”
This is what brought us to DemBloc and it will continue to be our guiding principle. We remain ordinary members of Your Party and are not a 'party within a party'. In some ways, we are similar to Tony Benn and Jeremy Corbyn’s Campaign Group and also their Socialist Movement in the 1980s and 1990s.
The recent resignations of Solma Ahmed (East of England), Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi (South East), and Sophie Wilson (Yorkshire & The Humber), from the Your Party CEC, but not from Your Party, comes as no shock, given the significant number of other recent resignations and the reasons given for them.
In statements accompanying these resignations, there have been several and significant references to concerns over “governance”. The Chair of the CEC, Jenn Forbes, also referred to governance issues in her email to YP members of 23 July 2026.
These developments should be a red flag for Your Party members. We at Dem Bloc have attempted, in good faith, to seek more clarity on these issues without success. Dem Bloc will now investigate, audit and understand just what these statements mean, and what is really going on. A party not built
on trust, transparency and accountability will struggle to retain and recruit members and represent communities.
We wish to express our gratitude to Solma, Naomi and Sophie for working so hard for us ordinary members. Solidarity with you.
We also look forward to all vacant seats in both the officers’ group and the wider CEC being filled. In relation to the places on the CEC, we note that earlier vacancies (for instance Scotland) were
filled by asking the candidate who had been the closest runner up in the appropriate regional or sectoral section, to join the CEC. This has not been actioned, for recently vacated seats, by Your Party officers. Your Party members are entitled to know why they remain functionally unrepresented on the governing body.
