We had an absolute blast at the Dog Show Fundraiser at East Carlton Park — beautiful dogs, sunshine, plenty of laughs and an amazing atmosphere from start to finish.

A huge thank you to the Perfect Paws Dog Walking Team, who sponsored a category, joined us as volunteers and even helped judge a category. Gem and Cat had the very difficult job of judging Waggiest Tail — and what fun we had! Choosing a winner was definitely not easy with so many gorgeous dogs. 🐶❤️

A massive thank you to Rita, Bob and Jim for working so hard throughout the day in the sunshine, and to everyone who helped make the event run so smoothly.

And Lynnette — what can we say? You absolutely pulled it all together. The whole day went without a hitch and was thoroughly enjoyable. Amazing job! 👏

Thank you to Fly By Bars and Dominic for organising another cracking event, and to Massive Hits Radio for being such excellent hosts. We loved working with you and look forward to doing it again in the future!

Thank you to** Polly and Thomas** for helping with the raffle, and to Carol for the gorgeous cake — which was one of the first raffle prizes picked! 🎂

And the best bit… we raised over £800! 🎉❤️

We also have to give a special shout-out to our very own therapy dog, Tod, who came home with 3rd place in the Golden Oldie category! 🥉🐕 Well done, Toddy! ❤️

Thank you to every single person who entered their beautiful dogs. They were all winners in our eyes. 🐾

The weather was absolutely beautiful, the company was fantastic and it was one of those days that was simply thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end.

Thank you to everyone who came, volunteered, entered, donated and supported us. ❤️

Well… what a busy day at the Veterans Cottage! ❤️💙

We welcomed so many new faces today, and it was an absolute pleasure to have you all with us for brunch.

There was food, plenty of conversation, lots of laughter and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day. It’s brilliant watching people walk through the door for the first time and quickly feel part of what we’re building here.

A massive thank you to everyone who helps make our brunches possible. Whether you donated food, milk, cakes, money or your time, every contribution is genuinely appreciated. It all goes towards keeping the doors open and making sure there’s always a warm welcome waiting. ❤️

And a special thank you to our lovely Lynette for joining us today and providing some much-needed relaxation with her wonderful massages. It was lovely seeing people take a little time out, switch off and enjoy some well-earned relaxation. 💆‍♀️❤️

We were also pleased to have the lovely Kim from PTSD Resolution join us for a few hours today. Kim will be back with us on Tuesday 8th September, so if you’d like an introduction or just want to come along and have a chat, she’ll be here.

And tomorrow we’re off to East Carlton for the Dog Show! 👌🏻

The weather is looking reasonable, so fingers crossed it stays that way. Come and find us, say hello and have a chat if you’re heading along.

Another busy one at the Cottage — and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Thank you for continuing to support us. ❤️💙

See you tomorrow! 🇬🇧

Saturday | 11am–3pm

Come along, grab some food, enjoy a cuppa and spend some time with us. Whether you’re a regular, visiting for the first time, serving, a veteran, family member, you’re always welcome.

🌹🇬🇧 LEST WE FORGET — LIGHTING UP THE COTTAGE 🇬🇧🌹

We are incredibly grateful to Moz & Ang Crafts for creating these beautiful Remembrance Day light boxes and using them to raise funds for The Veterans Cottage.

This isn’t simply a 3D-printed light box. It is a veteran using his skills and something he loves doing to give back to the Armed Forces community.

🌹 We now have ours proudly in place here at the Cottage, and they look fantastic.

We also have a few available in stock — and we’ve already shifted a few!

So if you’d like one in your home this Remembrance, grab yours while they’re available and help support The Veterans Cottage at the same time.

Every purchase helps raise funds towards keeping the Cottage here for our veteran community.

We are incredibly grateful for Maurice’s passion, generosity and determination to make a difference.

International Dog Day 🐾 — Four-Legged Heroes

Today is International Dog Day, and at the Veterans Cottage we wanted to pay tribute to some very special four-legged companions.

Throughout military history, dogs have stood alongside servicemen and women in some of the most difficult and dangerous circumstances imaginable. They have served as messenger dogs, sentries, search and rescue dogs, detection dogs and mascots — often showing extraordinary courage and loyalty under fire.

But their role has never simply been about service.

For many troops, dogs became trusted companions during deployment and difficult times. They provided something incredibly important: companionship, comfort and a little piece of normality in places where normal life had disappeared.

Some came home with their handlers. Others became treasured memories that stayed with them for the rest of their lives.

And today, dogs continue to have an important place in veterans’ lives. They can provide routine, companionship, reassurance and a reason to get up and get moving — without asking questions or making judgements.

So today we remember all the dogs who have served alongside our armed forces throughout history, and all those faithful companions who have supported veterans in ways that cannot always be put into words.

And, of course, we couldn’t finish without a very special mention for the Veterans Cottage’s own canine crew. 🐾❤️

A special tribute to all the Cottage dogs — past and present — and especially our therapy dog golden oldie, Tod

Toddy may be getting on a bit but he’s still very much on duty.

His job description is simple:

🐾 Listen
🐾 Comfort
🐾 Make people smile
🐾 Accept treats
🐾 Provide unconditional support

And he’s bloody good at it.

Happy International Dog Day to every four-legged friend who has stood beside our veterans — whether on the battlefield, on the home front, or simply on the sofa.

We salute you. 🫡🐾

Another fantastic meeting with the North Northamptonshire Councillors. Their warmth, kindness and genuine interest in what we do made the meeting feel so welcoming and personal. The support and encouragement they’re giving us is truly incredible, and the networking opportunities have been amazing!

A huge thank you to Cllr Chris Kellett for your continued support and for organising the meeting. We really appreciate the time and effort you put into supporting us.

It was also lovely to meet Cllr Maurice Elgin and Cllr Vinnie Whitrow it was great to see how genuinely passionate you are about supporting our veterans and the wider community. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thank you all for being such lovely people and for giving your time, support and commitment to our veterans. Your encouragement means so much to us, and we truly appreciate everything you do. 🇬🇧
