📣 An exciting opportunity to be part of Corby’s UK Town of Culture 2028 journey!

As Leader of Corby Town Council, I’m incredibly proud of the progress we are making with our bid to become UK Town of Culture 2028.

We are now looking for an experienced bid writer or consultancy to work alongside us and our partners to help develop and complete Corby’s full application.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help tell Corby’s story our heritage, our communities, our creativity and, most importantly, our ambitions for the future.

We want to put forward the strongest possible bid and show on a national stage what makes Corby such a special place.

An update on the next steps in Corby's Town of Culture 2028 bid.

🌱 Investing in Corby’s Allotments

Great to visit our allotments with the Town Clerk following their transfer to Corby Town Council from North Northamptonshire Council over the last couple of months.

There are some fantastic plots and it was great to meet plot holders who clearly put a huge amount of time, care and pride into them.

There is, however, still work that needs to be completed by NNC following the transfer, and we will continue to work with them to make sure outstanding issues are addressed.

We have now received the allotment waiting list and will be working through it, contacting residents and getting vacant plots allocated before the end of the summer.

Looking ahead, we’re really excited about investing in these exceptional community spaces and working with plot holders to make them places everyone can be proud of and enjoy.

🏆 CORBY’S TOWN OF CULTURE 2028 BID – FOLLOW OUR JOURNEY! 🏆

Our Town of Culture 2028 journey continues, with some fantastic local partners getting behind Corby’s bid.

Mayor of Corby , Cllr Steve O'Brien, joined our Town of Culture partner Made With Many at their brilliant Summer Shazam, hosted at Willow Place & Corby Town Shopping, another key partner supporting the bid.

Steve spent time chatting with the local community and encouraging people, young and old, to get involved and have their say.

It was fantastic to see young people completing their postcards and sharing their ideas for Corby’s cultural future. ✍🏻📮

Partnership and community involvement will be at the heart of our bid bringing together our residents, young people, businesses, community organisations and creative and cultural sector to showcase everything that makes Corby special.

PRIDE IN OUR TOWN 🌳♻️

These pictures are just a few examples of the fly-tipping we are seeing across Corby. It is unacceptable and something we all need to tackle.

Pride in place is extremely important. We all have a responsibility to play our part in keeping Corby clean, tidy and somewhere we are proud to call home.

The statutory responsibility for dealing with fly-tipping and waste sits with North Northamptonshire Council, but tackling the problem effectively requires partnership working between councils, residents and our communities.

At Corby Town Council, we are clear about our ambition: a cleaner, greener Corby.

This week we have been interviewing for our new Community Rangers, who will be out and about in our neighbourhoods, helping us improve our environment, engage with residents and strengthen pride in our town.

We looking forward to introducing our Community Rangers to the community in the coming weeks.

Let’s work together and take pride in Corby. 💚

☀️Additional support for residents.

We’re in the final stages of preparing our new Corby Town Council Community Hub, and we’re looking forward to welcoming residents very soon.

A huge thank you to Lee Barron - Proud Member of Parliament for Corby & East Northants for supporting this important project, which will see Northamptonshire Mind and Citizens Advice North Northants provide an additional based at Corby Town Council offices, making it easier for local people to access advice, guidance and wellbeing support.

Special thanks also to James for providing the facilities needed to help make this happen.

This is all about bringing vital services closer to our community and ensuring residents can access support when they need it most.

Great to meet with fellow councillors, our Town Clerk and Becky Walsh from Council Culture as we continued shaping Corby Town Council’s new Strategic Plan.

We’re building a clear vision for a cleaner, greener, healthier and more connected Corby putting residents at the heart of every decision.

As we continue our journey towards UK Town of Culture 2028 finals, this plan will help us deliver an even brighter future for our town.

North Northamptonshire Council

Over the past couple of months, our Mayor of Corby Steve O'Brien, has been out and about across Corby, proudly supporting residents, volunteers, charities and community organisations.

From the Hyrox Corby Event, Corby Business Academy supporting the Mayor’s charities, Corby Phoenix Rotary Club, Corby CAN Festival, PRIDE Corby The Veterans Cottage Armed Forces Day, Corby Highland Gathering highland, Alice in Wonderland The Core At Corby Cube, Oakley Fest Oakley Vale Community Centre, Priors Hall Golf Club, Corby District Lions, and the Friends of Coronation Park.

These are just some of the fantastic events and organisations the Mayor has had the pleasure of visiting.

These visits are about far more than attending events. They are about listening, celebrating success, recognising volunteers and strengthening the relationships that make Corby such a special place to live.

We’re proud to support residents and communities right across our town, and we look forward to many more visits in the months ahead.

Willow Place & Corby Town Shopping

Bring the family along to build, play and enjoy a fantastic day out, with Punch & Judy shows every Thursday at 12pm & 2pm throughout August.

📍 Queen’s Square, Corby Town Centre

A great way to keep children entertained and support our town centre this summer. We look forward to seeing you there!
