It’s World Mental Health Day — and up to 735,157 open referrals in England may be for an ADHD assessment. Behind every one is someone in a place like Corby waiting for answers, and for the support an assessment unlocks at school, at work and in the NHS. Liberal Democrats would drive early identification and shorter waits for diagnosis and support.

Two years is a long time to wait to give evidence, or to find out whether the person who hurt you will face justice. Ministers need a credible, long-term plan to clear the backlog.

Police in Corby have been cracking down on illegal e-scooters and e-bikes — 29 vehicles seized in a single operation in June. But enforcement on the street only deals with what’s already been bought, and high-power bikes and conversion kits are still easy to buy online. The Liberal Democrats would restrict their sale, and make delivery apps check that riders’ bikes are legal and insured.
