A vacancy has arisen on the Town Council following the resignation of a councillor.

Under the Local Government Act 1972, residents can request an election to fill their seat. If no election is requested, the Town Council can fill the vacancy by co-option. Please see notice for more information.

The runaway train came down the track and the blew (your hard earned money!)
Wiltshire deserves honesty and stability, not a runaway debt train. 🚂💸

The Lib Dem administration at County Hall has chosen to:
• Push council tax up by 4.99%
• Raid £5.2 million from reserves
• Hide £16 million in next year’s budget

All of this lands on one set of tracks: your next tax bill.

Conservatives in Wiltshire have always believed in sound, responsible finances and residents can see the difference when that’s abandoned.

People deserve transparency, not tricks.
They deserve value, not higher bills for fewer services.

Next week, Cabinet will consider the proposed Parking Plan 2026–2030 and a potential review of parking charges across the county.

The Parking Plan aims to create a modern and financially sustainable parking system that supports accessibility and economic growth.

If proposals to review parking tariffs are agreed, any changes will go to public consultation in the spring.

🚨♻️Outrage over recycling centre closures ♻️🚨

After only 8 months in control of Wiltshire Council, the Liberal Democrats are already cutting services in our area - including Lower Compton HRC.

In an act of absolute hypocrisy after claiming that their principles would be Together, Fair and Open - they have voted to close both Purton and Lower Compton recycling centres at the end of July 2026 giving residents no say over the decision.

The way this has been done behind closed doors is genuinely appalling and Councillors from all over Wiltshire are lining up to criticise the decision and urge them to keep our tips open.

The more we find out, the worse it gets!

🔒 Despite saying they would consult, the decision was changed, on the hoof, behind closed doors, after the public and press were excluded from the Cabinet meeting.

🗣️ We were told there would be no consultation at all because the decision had already been made. Residents are furious at the loss of our facility, plus for some, the round trip is up to 48 miles to the next nearest tip.

❌ Lib Dem Cabinet members ignored scrutiny and not a single Cabinet Member attended the task group discussing the closures.

📜 This decision breaches Wiltshire Council’s own constitution, which requires local consultation to take place.

📣A request for a scrutiny call-in (the process designed to keep the power of the Cabinet in check) was refused to shut down any debate by opposition Councillors.

🥊 Councillors in the Calne and Royal Wootton Bassett area are now mounting a serious campaign to reverse this decision - but only public pressure will force a rethink.
