**Event & Closure Notice**

Folks, just a couple of things to note ahead of this weekend

SATURDAY 30th AUGUST
Coastal path will be open but there is a running event taking place. It may well be busy so please respect those partaking and give room where required.

SUNDAY 31st AUGUST
Coastal path will be CLOSED due to an Equestrian Event taking place

If using the coastal path please familiarise yourself with the rules as laid out on the notice board by the authorities in Ballykinlar Camp.

Ensure a good distance is kept from any grazing livestock.

**CLOSURE NOTICE**

All Coastal Path users are to be notified that the Path will be closed on Saturday, September 7th, to facilitate the annual Endurance Riding Ireland St. Patrick’s Coast Ride that starts and finishes at Downpatrick Racecourse.

The Path will re-open to walkers on Sunday, September 8th

Folks please be aware there is a bull present in the fields beside the Sand Lane / GAA Pitch.

Please exercise extreme caution if going for a walk, and maintain a suitable distance at all times.

Please keep dogs on a lead.

Folks, we have been made aware that there is a large amount of young cattle, their mothers & a bull in the fields next to the GAA pitch, I.e the unfenced part of the walk.

We would remind all users of the livestock rules - attached to this post.

An alternative route to avoid the cattle is to walk out of the village along the main road, and down the tarmac lane next to Corbett’s estate, however users doing this do so at their own risk.

Please enjoy the walk but please also keep safe, keep a distance.

Folks,

There is a large herd of Cows and young calves currently in the fields next to the sand lane / GAA Pitch.

Please take care and caution if out for a walk and leave plenty of distance between you and the animals.

Keep dogs on a short lead at ALL TIMES.

With the hot weather continuing into this week, we would like to advise some water safety tips if you are planning on entering the water at the beach 🏖️

⚫️Be prepared. Check the weather and tides, choose your spot, go with a buddy, have the right equipment.
⚫️If in doubt, don't go out. ...
⚫️Make sure you acclimatise to avoid cold water shock.
⚫️Be seen. ...
⚫️Stay within your depths.
⚫️Float to live.
⚫️Call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard in an emergency, your location is BALLYKINLAR BEACH

Please be aware the Ballykinlar beach is not managed or guarded by RNLI Lifeguards. Any users entering the water do so at their own risk.

As the warm weather continues this week in NI, please remember to take care when out on the pathway & at the beach☀️

Please be careful with litter & ci******es as these can be a fire risk 🔥

Please remember to pick up after your dog, as there are many kids and young families using the walkway. 🐶💩🚮
