Crane Valley Local Nature Reserve News and events of the Crane Valley Local Nature Reserve in the heart of Cranbrook town, Kent.

Crane Valley LNR is a lovely little 1.5ha nature haven with woodland, wet meadow, a stream and scrub – offering great habitat for wildlife and a beautiful green space for people to enjoy. It lies in the heart of Cranbrook town, just behind the Co-op car park and adjacent to the recreation ground. The Kent High Weald Partnership help to manage the reserve on behalf of Cranbrook and Sissinghurst Par

ish Council. They run volunteer conservation tasks and public events each year either funded by the council or by external one-off funding opportunities such as the Lottery. More volunteers are always needed to help look after the reserve so please get in touch with KHWP if you would like get involved.

We will be focused on the meadow area, ensuring it becomes the best habitat for our resident harvest mice as well as the many other wonderful species we have there!

Please be aware there are a couple of missing/broken boardwalk planks around the meadow area - they have been highlighted with caution tape and will be actioned next week. In the meantime please be extra cautious!

This course is for anyone wishing to participate in the National Harvest Mouse Survey. It will inform you about the key factors affecting the status and distribution of harvest mice in the South East. You will have the opportunity to examine a variety of harvest mouse nests and gain the practical surveying experience in the field needed for the survey.
