Mayor's Update - May 2026 part 2

"To continue focus on last month's activities, once becoming mayor, my calendar was so full supporting groups, mayors and communities. I am loving every moment!

To start with my mayor making on the 19th May, I want to say thank you to the mayor's that came along to support me. I consider it a vital role of the mayor to be an ambassador to the town.

To continue Dementia Awareness Week, I went see the Afternoon Club at the St Mary's Caritas Centre Crewe, part of The Thursday Club Nantwich and join in the singing and dancing!

I supported the new mayor of Sandbach at his mayor making at the Sandbach Town Hall.

I surprised Caroline from Seahorse Swimming Club CREWE who was swimming 20 lengths in 26 days to raise money for Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith with a certificate.

Crewe Town Councillor - Sally Graham and I were interviewed on passing the torch at The Cat Radio and my plans to support dementia action and men's mental health groups.

I joined the Rotary Club of Crewe and Nantwich Weaver for their Tripartite with guest Rotarians from France and Germany and learned about their community support commitments.

We had Krazy Races in Crewe which saw record crowds and amazing racers from local businesses to community fundraising groups.

To round off May I joined The Wishing Well Project at the George's Community Hub to celebrate the completion of the Crewe Town Council funded community garden with fellow councillor and former mayor Dawn Clark.

Mayor's Update - May 2026 part 1

"I've been so busy since becoming mayor, I've had little time to sit and look back at the amazing groups I've met in such a short time. So to keep it simple I'm going to break it up into bitesize chunks in the hope of catching up soon.

Leading up to the mayor making on the 19th May I began the month finishing off my deputy mayor visits;

I had the opportunity to catch up with fellow mayors at the Winsford mayor charity meal
I went to meet the members of Inner Wheel for their anniversary celebration.
I was invited to the Crewe Gang Show at the Crewe Lyceum which was very entertaining showcasing amazing talent for the young people performing.
I was honoured to open the new Memory Café in Haslington at the Haslington Methodist Church.
In my final week I went to the Knutsford and Middlewich mayor making ceremonies to continue our relationships with neighbouring towns.
For VE Day I went to the Royal British Legion event at Leighton Hospital supporting veterans.
Reaseheath College had their annual Reaseheath Family Festival where I got to speak with the principal and see the stall, community groups and activities during the day.
On my final day as deputy mayor, for Dementia Awareness Week, I went to Belong Crewe and their regular Dementia Café available of residents and the local community.

I am so grateful to meet individuals committing to giving so much to our community."

Mayoral Activities
The Mayor of Crewe, Cllr Stuart Mackay, was pleased to attend the opening of the Memory Café in Haslington.

A huge well done to the volunteers at Haslington Methodist Church for creating this valuable community space to support people living with dementia and their carers.

The Mayor had the honour of officially declaring the café open and enjoyed speaking with volunteers and visitors about the positive impact a service like this can have.

Spaces like this provide an important opportunity for people to come together, connect with others and access support in a welcoming environment.
