Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provides hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.

These include:

Croydon University Hospital,
Purley Hospital, for outpatient appointments and diagnostic tests
The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside and others throughout Croydon. A minor injuries unit in New Addington

The Trust was formed on 1st August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Commu

nity Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. Around 3,500 staff provide services for a population of over 340,000 people who are relatively young with a high level of ethnic diversity.

📢 Temporary closure of disabled parking bays at the main entrance

Patients and visitors are advised that the disabled parking bays opposite the main entrance will be temporarily closed for one day only on Wednesday 2 September to support ongoing improvement works.

The temporary closure will allow for the safe installation of temporary toilet facilities while the main entrance toilets are refurbished as part of a wider programme of enhancements, including a new reception desk and upgraded flooring and lighting.

⚠️ Advisory signage will be in place around the site, and information on alternative arrangements will be available on the day.

Today, our Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care Team lit a healing candle for those who have lost their lives, remain missing, or have been affected by the recent flash floods on the Nepal-Tibet border.

Chief Executive Matthew Kershaw joined the service to light a candle and invited colleagues to take a moment to reflect and remember those impacted by this tragedy.

We are thinking of everyone affected, including any of our staff, patients and local community members who may have family or loved ones along the Nepal-Tibet border.

Leadership starts with learning, growing and making a difference.🌟

Congratulations to our latest Aspiring Leaders graduates, who have successfully completed the Aspiring Leaders Programme.

Over the past three months, colleagues from clinical and non-clinical services across the Trust have developed their leadership skills, built confidence and delivered Quality Improvement projects that are making a real impact within their teams.

A special thank you to our Chief Nurse, Deborah Kelly, for joining us to celebrate and present certificates to our graduates.

🎉 Strengthening our nursing leadership team 🎉

We are delighted to announce two important appointments to our nursing leadership team as we continue to invest in high-quality care for our patients and communities.

👏 Maija Hansen has been appointed Deputy Chief Nurse and Director of Nursing following her successful tenure in the interim role.

👏 Loretta McGurry has been appointed Deputy Chief Nurse for Community, bringing more than 20 years of community nursing experience and a strong passion for improving patient care and reducing health inequalities.

These newly created roles support the ambitions of the NHS 10 Year Health Plan, helping us strengthen nursing leadership, support our workforce and deliver more care closer to home.

Both Maija and Loretta bring a wealth of experience, expertise and dedication to their new roles, and will play a key part in shaping the future of nursing services across the Trust.

Chief Nurse, Deborah Kelly, said:
“I am delighted to confirm the appointments of Maija and Loretta to these important roles within our nursing leadership team. Both appointments reflect our commitment to investing in nursing leadership and supporting our workforce as we continue to develop services that meet the needs of our local population.”

A little throwback to our Service to Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, held at St Barnabas Worship Centre last week. 🍼🌍

The service was a special opportunity to come together in reflection, prayer and celebration, recognising the importance of breastfeeding and the support given to mothers, babies and families throughout their feeding journeys.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this meaningful celebration possible. 💙

An amber heat-health alert is in place across parts of England from 11-14 August.

Some people – particularly the elderly, very young, or those with existing health conditions – face a real risk to their health and need to take steps to keep cool.

Take extra care and look out for others who may struggle in the heat.

🇵🇭🎉 Filipino Fiesta 2026: Celebrating culture, community and our Filipino colleagues

What a fantastic afternoon of Filipino culture, food, music and community spirit at our Filipino “Pinoy” Barrio Fiesta at Croydon University Hospital! 🇵🇭❤️

The celebration brought colleagues, families and members of our local Filipino community together to enjoy traditional Filipino food, games, cultural showcases and plenty of laughter.

A huge thank you to Joanna Ofiaza and the organising team, our volunteers and everyone who helped make the event such a warm and vibrant celebration of Filipino heritage.

We also heard inspiring messages from Simon Haben, Chief People Officer and Deputy CEO, Deborrah Kelly, Chief Nursing Officer, Oliver Soriano, Chief Nursing Officer at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust and President of the Philippine Nurses Association UK, Dr Roshan Siva, Director of Research & Development, and Kanlungan Filipino Consortium.

We’d also like to say a special thank you to UNISON for their support of the celebration and for helping bring colleagues together.

This week is World Breastfeeding Week, an opportunity to highlight the support available to families across our Trust and recognise the teams who guide parents throughout their feeding journey. 💙

Our Infant Feeding Team hosted an information stand at Croydon University Hospital where staff and visitors could find out more about breastfeeding services, breastfeeding at work and local support available to families, as well as pick up some freebies.

We also recognised the fantastic work taking place across our maternity, neonatal, paediatric and community services to support parents and babies, while continuing our work towards UNICEF Baby Friendly accreditation.

Thank you to all the staff who support families every day, helping to give babies the very best start in life. 🤱
