“How lucky are we to have had something so good, that makes saying this goodbye so hard?” 💔

Today sadly marks the last day of us on the youth / community engagement team. We, as a team, have been disbanded & placed in safer neighbourhood wards around Croydon. Martin will be covering Coulsdon Town & Rick will be covering Woodside ward. Emma will be remaining as a liaison officer for violence against women & girls. She will continue to run Beyond the Court for as long as she can as this is an important initiative to keep women & girls safe. 🔥🏐

But this decision sadly ends the team as we know it. We would like to thank all of the grassroots organisations we have ever worked with, all of the young people who have ever thrashed us at Netball, all of the primary schools who have welcomed us in for their choices talk, and all of the young people who have opened up to us so we could help them.

We have become more than just colleagues. We are now family. We’ve had highs & lows. Through it all we’ve had each other, supported each other & will continue to support each other. For us it’s not goodbye but rather see you later. 🥃

We hope we have left a legacy behind that young people will remember so that when they are with their children in the future, they can say that police ARE cool, police ARE here to help them. That they knew three cool feds. Their names were Emma & Ricky Martin. 💔✌🏼🫶🏻

Our officers from the Community Liaison Team visited members of the Labour Party’s women’s group at Ruskin House to deliver Croydons pledges of dealing with Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) on Croydon’s Streets & how they are tackling issues women face today. They also spoke about current scams & fraud & how operation Callback is designed to tackle this.

Yesterday, officers from Croydon’s Integrated Communication and Engagement Team had the privilege of attending Ghana’s 68th Independence Flag Raising in Croydon.

We are truly grateful for the warm welcome and incredible feedback we’ve received! 🙌💙 It was an honor to engage with the community, and we’re excited about future opportunities to connect.

A special thank you to Lady Vicky Newton for inviting the MET Police to this event, and for those who have reached out—we look forward to working with you at upcoming events and, of course, seeing you again at next year’s Flag Raising Ceremony!

🚨 Celebrating 10 Years of DIVERT! 🎉

On Wednesday 19th February, Officers from Croydon’s Integrated Communication and Engagement Team attended a special event at Crystal Palace Stadium to mark 10 years of the DIVERT programme.

DIVERT is a multi-award-winning custody intervention programme, working in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to steer young adults (18-25) away from crime and towards brighter futures.

Operating in police stations across London, young people in custody can request to speak with a DIVERT Custody Intervention Coach, offering them support, guidance, and access to real opportunities—including career and personal development.

At our 10-year celebration event, we heard inspiring stories from young people who have turned their lives around and are now in full-time work. Their success is a testament to the power of second chances!

A great day talking to the new recruits for Kensington & Chelsea, Notting Hill & Shepherds Bush about Premiere League Kicks. How Premiere League clubs & The Met work together to deliver world class youth engagement services to the young people of London. We also spoke about the incredible relationships made with the community of Croydon through engagement & policing with respect. Thank you to for providing the amazing Stamford Bridge as a venue for our training.

They may ask you to purchase or sent expensive items to help for an investigation.

To stay safe:
• Banks and the police will never call you to verify your PIN or ask you to buy or send items
on their behalf for investigations. Hang up if you get a call like this.

• Always verify suspicious calls by contacting the organisation using a trusted phone
number. Calling 159 will put you through to your bank. If calling back from a landline, wait
five minutes as criminals may stay on the line after you hang up. Alternatively, use a
different phone line to call your bank.
