In this role, you will lead high-performing operational teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes through coaching, performance insight, and continuous improvement. You will turn strategy into action to deliver better outcomes for customers and colleagues.

The June UK House Price Index data shows, on average, house prices rose by 0.1% between May 2026 and June 2026. UK house prices increased by 2% in the year to June 2026, which makes the average property in the UK valued at £272,000.

In England, the June data shows on average, house prices rose by 0.2% since May 2026. The annual price rise of 1.8% takes the average property value to £293,000.

In Wales, house prices fell by 0.9% since May 2026. An annual price increase of 1.8% takes the average property value to £213,000.

London shows an annual price decrease of -2.5% which takes the average property value to £554,000. Monthly house prices rose by 1% since May 2026.

The collaboration will focus on improving data accessibility, sharing expertise, and exploring new ways to unlock the value of land and location data to support housing delivery, innovation and economic growth.

We're pleased to confirm that Iain Banfield — who has led HM Land Registry as Interim CEO since September 2025 — has been appointed on a permanent basis as Chief Executive and Chief Land Registrar.

Iain said:
"I look forward to working with everyone across the sector and within the organisation as we continue on our transformation journey, improving services for customers, working closely with our partners across the property sector."

Iain brings over seven years of experience as Chief Financial Officer and Interim CEO at HMLR, a background spanning senior finance and leadership roles across government, and a clear commitment to improving services for the property sector. He formally takes up the role on 1 September 2026.

One of our new digital developments in 2025-26 was helping to catch errors before they cause delays. New "digital checks" built into our online systems flag potential issues in an application before it's submitted — giving solicitors the chance to correct them on the spot rather than waiting for us to send back a request for more information.

It's a simple idea with a big impact: better quality applications from the start means faster processing, fewer delays and a smoother experience for everyone in the chain — including the homebuyer waiting to complete.

The May UK House Price Index data shows, on average, house prices rose by 0.3% between April 2026 and May 2026. UK house prices increased by 2.7% in the year to May 2026, which makes the average property in the UK valued at £271,000.

In England, the May data shows on average, house prices rose by 0.1% since April 2026. The annual price rise of 2.3% takes the average property value to £292,000.

In Wales, house prices rose by 1.3% since April 2026. An annual price increase of 4.2% takes the average property value to £215,000.

London shows an annual price decrease of -3.7% which takes the average property value to £545,000. Monthly house prices fell by -1.2% since April 2026.
