Croydon Sea Cadets has now launched brand new official social media accounts.

This page will no longer be updated. Please see the pinned post for more details. Croydon Sea Cadets, TS Terra Nova, has a long and proud tradition helping the young people of Croydon and the surrounding area. With a new Officer-in Charge we seek to return to and exceed previous heights of excellence. The loss of our unit HQ to fire was a blow but a historical one. Thanks to the efforts of our UMC

and the Mitcham Road Barracks we have a secure location from which to launch ourselves anew and cadets and staff alike are aware of a new energy and determination on our parade nights.

A special shout out to our Junior Sea Cadets for taking part in the Rememberance today, they showed real commitment and resilience in taking part.

And for the first time ever they also layed their, collectively handmade, wreath! Which is a wonderful way to remember those who we’ve lost in sevice.

Some of our amazing cadets learnt how to rig up a gyn using 3 spars and a variaty of ropes with different techniques such as lashings, splay tackles and a couple of different knots like timber hitch and clove hitch.

The purpose of a gyn is to move items vertically. They can also be used to suport either end of a rope way.

We are always looking to take on new cadets aged 10-18 are they ready for a challenge.

Over 18 want to learn some life skills, want to volunteer and lend a hand, message below or get in touch.

•No prior experience needed – just a passion for adventure!

Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity! 🌟

So one of our very own cadets won a gold award with Jack Petchey awards 2024, and attended ceremony Saturday just gone in London.

Congratulations AC Fuller who be also during her holidays twins with another unit being Clacton.

For those that don’t know the story behind Jack Petchey here are some details, unfortunately Sir Jack Petchey passed away last year.

It has been estimated that since the beginning of his support for sea cadets in London Area, Sir Jack’s foundation has given awards to over 2,000 cadets and several hundred adult volunteers, and that our units have benefitted from around £750,000 in grants.

Sir Jack also provided the majority of the funds to build our offshore vessel TS Jack Petchey as well as contributing toward the cost of the current TS Royalist.

For those who don’t know, Sir Jack was a former Royal Navy CPO who was once told that he would never be management material. He went on to build a multi-million pound business empire and set up his foundation to support youth and help young people realise their potential. His mantra “If you think you can, you can” has inspired many thousands of London’s young people to great achievements and his foundation remains a fitting legacy for the future of London’s youth.

So on Friday was the passing out parade of one of our very own cadets. Tyrese has been a member of Croydon Sea Cadets and has grown in knowledge during his time as a cadet.

Tyrese has endured 10 weeks training at HMS Raleigh, and will now be training to become a ETWE(SM) Engineering Technician Weapons Engineer (Submariner).

We are very proud of Tyrese and wish him all the very best in his future career in the Royal Navy.
