A distinctive smell of cannabis and no insurance...

Unsurprisingly the pictured vehicle caught our attention in Grimethorpe. The driver didn't want to stop and disappeared after seeing the blue lights of the police vehicle.

Just as unsurprisingly, the occupants were predictable with their actions , and we found it abandoned not long after.

One more dangerous vehicle off the road.... Drug driving kills.

A little while ago our officers responded to a vehicle which had been set alight in Carlton.

This was in the middle of our the heat wave and extremely dry weather we were experiencing. Luckily no one was hurt and the fire was contained quickly.

This behaviour is unacceptable. Colleagues in the fire service are stretched as it is and if it wasn't for a prompt response, it could have been far worse.

We have launched an investigation into what happened, and will be looking for those responsible.

Providing information about the bikes that are used in ASB will help us find the biker, and take the vehicle off the road

We need information on where off-road bikes are stored, repaired, refuelled or how they’re transported, to help us track it down

Any information you have on off road bikes will help us, no matter how small you think it is.

Yesterday our officers took part in Barnsley's Operation Hawthorne, aimed at enhanced engagement with rural communities 🚜

We visited a number of farms, residential properties and businesses, along with colleagues from our Motorcycle and Rural Crime Team and Barnsley Council Wardens, taking the opportunity to discuss issues within those communities and offer crime prevention advice.

We also carried out a waste carrier operation along with BMBC Wardens, checking that waste carrier vehicles on the roads held the necessary licence.

We were also joined by colleagues from our Road Policing Group, who issued 6 Traffic Offence Report (1 x mobile phone, 3 x no MOT, 1 x due care, 1 x no insurance), and from our Safer Camera Partnership who detected 13 speeding offences during the day.

Last but not least, our BMBC Warden colleagues also rescued 2 neglected puppies 🐶

All in all, it was a very successful day 🙂 👮🏽‍♂️

This vehicle caught our attention last week for numerous reasons....

We requested the driver to stop, and a short pursuit ensued which was ultimately aborted.

Unsurprisingly, we spotted the bright yellow car that was almost as high-vis as us the next day in Cudworth.

The driver was dealt with for numerous driving offences and the car was seized.

Approximately 12kg of cannabis recovered in Carlton 👀 👃

We had our suspicions raised about a unit in Carlton last month, and after following our nose, we applied for a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

This was executed earlier this month, and approximately 12kg of bagged cannabis ready for onward disruption was seized and 81 plants.

To predict the comments - Whether you agree or not, cannabis is a class B drug in England, and cannabis farms like this fund organised criminality.

Bike check session 🚲

This week we worked with our partners at BMBC in Grimethorpe for a bike check session - this involved free bike checks to ensure safe riding and giving advice on how to secure bikes to reduce cycle thefts.

It was a lovely touch to receive this 'well done' message from our Chief Constable today, for winning the Master Cutler Emergency Services Team Award along with SYP Motorcycle and Rural Crime Team

The prestigious award was in recognition of our joint work to tackle rural crime in Barnsley over the last 12 months 🙂

Can't stop, won't stop. The crack down on illegal motorbikes in our area continues....

We seized this bike on Friday in Lundwood. Checks transpired it was someone's pride and joy and that it had been stolen from Huddersfield a few months prior - it's a shame that the balaclava wearing rider didn't want to pay it the same respect.

Do you want us at your door telling you your loved one has been involved in a serious road traffic incident? This is the reality of people riding these machines dangerously on our roads, without insurance, driving licenses or appropriate headgear.

If you don't like our content about these vehicle seizures, then have a serious think, why don't you want our roads to be safer for you, your children and your loved ones?

Drug driver with no insurance and who was in possession of class A drugs arrested....

Last week, our colleagues on response stopped the pictured vehicle in Royston. The drivers day went from bad to worse, as not only did he not have an insurance policy, but he was found in possession of class A drugs and failed a roadside drug wipe for co***ne.

Should our forensic tests show him to be over the limit at the time of the vehicle stop, he can say goodbye to his licence. 👋
