As we look forward to what we hope will be a warm and sunny summer holiday, pupils at CHS have today taken part in an important Reservoir Safety Assembly delivered by a representative from Welsh Water.
The assembly provided pupils with valuable information about the dangers associated with swimming in reservoirs and other open-water environments. Through an engaging presentation and real-life examples, pupils learned why reservoirs can be particularly hazardous, even during periods of hot weather. Topics included the risks of cold-water shock, hidden underwater hazards, steep banks, and the difficulties of self-rescue in open water.
The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is always a priority and we were grateful to Welsh Water for taking the time to visit the school and share this vital safety message with every year group ahead of the summer break.
With many families planning to enjoy the outdoors over the coming weeks, we hope that the assembly has helped equip our pupils with the knowledge needed to make safe and responsible choices around water. By raising awareness of the dangers of reservoir swimming, we can all play a part in preventing avoidable accidents and keeping our communities safe.
