joined South Wales Fire & Rescue Service (SWFRS) and Go Safe this morning for acting on reports and concerns from local residents and councillors about speeding in the Varteg area.

✅ 5 drivers received a Traffic Office Report (TOR) - 3 speeding , 1 No Inurance, 1 speeding and failing to stop
✅ Child car seats were also checked for correct fitting
✅ 22 received the educational course provided by SWFRS.
✅ 2 received advice on not wearing a seatbelt.

Speeding and failing to wear a seatbelt can have serious consequences, increasing the risk of serious injury or death.

The Special Constabulary will be out patrolling the Torfaen area on the following dates:

and from the Pontypool Neighbourhood Team seized this Surron under s165 no insurance,

We're continuing to receive reports of Sur-Ron style electric bikes and other off-road motorcycles being ridden on roads, footpaths, parks and public open spaces across our communities.

While these bikes may look like electric bicycles, many Sur-Ron bikes are legally classed as motor vehicles due to their power and speed capabilities. This means riders must have:

✅ A valid driving licence
✅ Insurance
✅ Vehicle registration
✅ A number plate
✅ An MOT (where required)
✅ A helmet when ridden on a road

ℹ️ UPDATE:

The 17-year-old boy was released on conditional bail as our enquiries continue.

🚔 Neighbourhood officers investigating the sale and supply of class A drugs in the Torfaen area carried out an early-morning warrant in Cwmbran on Tuesday 6 October.

👮‍♂️ Officers seized suspected crack co***ne, cannabis, cash, mobile phones, and an electric bike at the address in Coed Eva.

ℹ️ A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of crack co***ne and cannabis, possession with intent to supply crack co***ne and cannabis, and possession of criminal property.

ℹ️ The boy, from Cwmbran, remains in police custody at this time as our enquiries continue.

👮‍♂️ Sergeant Jason Ghalamkary from Gwent Police's neighbourhood team in Cwmbran, said:

💬“Intelligence we receive from the public is paramount as we combat the production, sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Torfaen area.

“We hope this morning’s warrant shows that input from the community really does make a difference, so please continue to report your concerns and information to us.

“Illegal drugs fill our communities with misery, suffering and fear and those involved prey upon the vulnerable in our society.

"If you have any concerns about illegal drugs in your area, let us know by calling 101 or direct messaging us on our Facebook or X pages, so we can act.
