⚠️ HEALTH WEEK DAY 4 ⚠️

Another day of health-related fun!

Some classes had Dr McAllister visiting to discuss healthy eating and P1 had some practise at bandaging!

P6 attended ‘Danger Detectives’ at Dean Park, and the whole-school took part in a Healthy Lunchbox Challenge!

⚽️ HEALTH WEEK DAY 3 ⚽️

Today was a busy day!

While Rm 12 P4 enjoyed a great trip to Dumfries House, the rest of the school visited Darvel FC! 💙

Our young people had a fabulous experience, from team talks to playing against Nacho Novo! DM Fruit donated healthy snacks for us too!

The staff at Recreation Park commended how well behaved our children were and we would like to thank the staff at Darvel FC for their warm welcome!

Other activities included visits from some paediatric nurses to talk about hand washing and what makes a good nurse.

P7 had a HYROX experience with Gavin, one of our parents. He also offered them some super advice on transition to secondary and life-skills.

What a community we are! 💙

🚒 HEALTH WEEK DAY 2 🚒

Today, Newmilns Fire Crew visited some of our classes and we were amazed to learn of all the different ways the Fire Brigade can help us!

Active Schools took some sessions outside and we had a visit from one of the carers in our community!

P7 were learning about personal hygiene and Mrs McAulay introduced massage to a few classes.

It’s been busy so far with lots more to come this week! 💙

Today was ‘Move More Monday!’

All classes participated in the Daily Mile, passing the baton on to the next class across the day!

Super Tattie visited our infant classes and Mrs Richardson delivered some allergy lessons across some stages.

We have lots more interesting things planned across the week! 🍎

Join one of our parents, Gavin, at 1.30pm TODAY at Darvel Church Hall as he leads this year’s family-friendly walk as part of Valley Walkfest! 🌿

A great chance to get outdoors, explore the local area, and enjoy a walk together with families and friends. Everyone is welcome! ☀️

Our P4, P5 and P6 pupils have had a fantastic day exploring the Titanic Museum and taking in the sights on their walking tour around the Belfast Harbour. 🚢✨

We’ve attached some lovely group photos from the day — lots of smiles and plenty of excitement! More will be shared via Learning Journals over the next few days.

We’re now on our way back to the ferry, with everyone happy and a hopefully a bit tired after a memorable adventure!

At Darvel Primary, we are committed to playing an active and responsible role in protecting our planet and safeguarding its future.

As well as our informative assembly and class activities, we helped mark Earth Day by tidying the area in and around our school.

Our P7’s have been gifted with their Leavers’ hoodies and we think they look so smart! 😎

Thank you to our Parent Council for their generous contribution towards these - the children are delighted with them! 💙
