šŸ†As Queen once sang… ā€œWE ARE THE CHAMPIONSā€

Another fantastic evening with RNLI Walmer Lifeboat for the much anticipated annual rounders match! And this year we were VICTORIOUS! Thank you to everyone who took part and participated in yet another fantastic team building event 🤩

We as a team would also like to take this time to thank the Walmer crew for their continuous commitment and dedication to saving lives at sea! 🌊

šŸ›Ÿ If you see anyone in difficulty around the coast please dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard!

āš¾ļø Yesterday evening saw the second match in our August Tuesday evening rounders game's.

ā›µļø The opposition this time coming in the form of a team (small army) of our colleagues from the coastguard.

😬 Unfortunately we seem to have lost the scoresheet so we thought a draw would be the fairest outcome....... alright then after all the years of trying the coastguard finally pulled off a narrow victory and beat us by 1/2 a rounder. Seems like the 52 weeks of practise paid off!

šŸ‘Œ Thanks to the players from the coastguard for attending and we will see you all again for a rematch next year.

Next up a team from "Downs Sailing Club"

Last Tuesday, we welcomed our SAR colleagues from Walmer RNLI to Deal Coastguard Rescue Station for a joint familiarisation session.
The team were shown the equipment tests we carry out on the rescue vehicle before moving on to a demonstration of our rope rescue capability. Coastguard Rescue Officers demonstrated the system in action, before giving several of the Walmer crew the opportunity to get involved themselves — operating the lines and experiencing what it’s like to be in a rescue harness.
Sessions like this are a great opportunity to share skills, strengthen working relationships, and ensure we continue to work seamlessly together when responding to incidents along the coast.

On International Women’s Day, it’s important to recognise the dedication, resilience, and professionalism of the women who serve within the Coastguard.

At Deal Coastguard Rescue Team and within HMCG, women play a vital role in frontline search and rescue operations, responding to incidents along the coastline, supporting those in danger, and working seamlessly as part of a highly skilled team. Their commitment, operational capability, and teamwork help ensure the safety of our local communities and those who enjoy the sea.
Today is a chance to acknowledge the contribution of the women within the team and across the wider Coastguard service—demonstrating leadership, strength, and expertise in what can often be challenging and demanding environments.
