🌿 Public Rights of Way – 2026 Cutting Schedule 🌿

Following Monday’s Parish Council meeting, during which a number of residents raised concerns regarding the condition of local public footpaths, we would like to provide an update.

The Parish Council will shortly be displaying the 2026 Public Rights of Way cutting schedule on all Parish Council noticeboards to help residents understand when individual footpaths are due to be cut.

To make it easier to identify footpath numbers and report issues, we would also encourage residents to use our interactive Public Rights of Way map, available here:

https://dedhamparishcouncil.gov.uk/footpath-and-walks/

If you believe a footpath requires attention, you can:
• Report it directly using the online form on the interactive map; or
• Email the Parish Clerk, quoting the footpath number and providing a brief description of the issue.

The Parish Council will review all reports received and, where resources allow, will seek to arrange additional cuts where these are considered necessary.

We are grateful to everyone who takes the time to report issues and help us maintain Dedham’s network of public footpaths for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.

📱 Mobile Signal Issues Across Dedham, Langham and Boxted

Today I met with local councillors, residents and members of the Dedham Vale Society to discuss the serious impact caused by the removal of the local telecommunications mast.

The mast was removed without warning, leaving many people across Dedham, Langham and Boxted with little or no mobile signal, and in some cases no landline service either. This is causing significant disruption for residents and is also affecting emergency services, including the police, with concerns that ambulance services may also be impacted.

At present, there is no temporary solution in place and no confirmed long-term fix. It is vital that we continue to highlight the scale of the problem and support neighbours who may be particularly vulnerable without reliable communications.

I will be contacting Cadent to ask why a replacement mast cannot be installed and what options are available to restore reliable coverage to local residents as quickly as possible.

If you are affected, please email Cllr Thomas Rowe with your postcode and mobile provider details at: [email protected]

Please also report the issue directly to Ofcom using their online complaints form:
https://www.ofcom.org.uk/make-a-complaint

The more reports that are submitted, the stronger the case for urgent action. Thank you to everyone who attended today's meeting and shared their experiences.

Dedham Road Update:

We have been made aware that some vehicles are being parked beyond the double yellow lines in certain areas along Dedham Road.

Following discussions with Parking Enforcement, we have been advised that double yellow line restrictions apply not only to the carriageway, but also to the pavement and verge, in accordance with the Highway Code. Unfortunately, there is sometimes a misconception that parking on the verge or partially off the road is permitted.

The new yellow line restrictions are now officially enforceable. Over the weekend, Parking Enforcement officers visited the road below the bridge on 12 occasions and issued 10 Penalty Charge Notices.

Anyone wishing to report vehicles parked in contravention of the restrictions can do so here: https://www.ipswich.gov.uk/report-parking-problem
