β˜€οΈ πŸ₯΅ With the current UK heatwave, there’s no need to worry about staying comfortable during your driving lesson!

My car is cooled down with air conditioning before every lesson starts, and kept nice and cool throughout the day, so you can focus on your driving without the heat distracting you.

And if the air conditioning somehow isn’t enough to cool you down… I’ll happily throw a bucket of ice-cold water over you at the end of the lesson! πŸ˜„πŸ’¦ just say the word πŸ€ͺ🀣

Stay hydrated, stay comfortable, and i’ll see you on the road!

A good reminder to parents of any pupils starting to learn to drive ..........

Driving in the 80s

When most of us were learning to drive it took on average 10 hours to pass the test. Most had been behind the wheel in a farm, or in a yard of their dads or grandads friend.

πŸ‘‰ Reverse parking was not taught.
πŸ‘‰ There was no Theory Test.
πŸ‘‰ There was no hazard perception test.
πŸ‘‰ There was no independent drive section.
πŸ‘‰ There were no show me/tell me questions.
πŸ‘‰ There were no/very few bus lanes.
πŸ‘‰ There were no red routes.
πŸ‘‰ There were no/very few cycle lanes.
πŸ‘‰ There were no advanced stop lines.
πŸ‘‰ Cyclists were taught cycling proficiency at school.
πŸ‘‰ Pedestrians were taught the Green X Code.
πŸ‘‰ There were more police enforcing driving standards.
πŸ‘‰ There were less vehicles on the road.
πŸ‘‰ There were hardly any parked cars.
πŸ‘‰ Most had never heard the term "road rage"
πŸ‘‰ There were no speed humps, 20 zones, "chicanes" or other traffic "calming" measures.
πŸ‘‰ other drivers gave space and time while learners were in view.
πŸ‘‰ There were less/no mini roundabouts/double mini roundabouts.
πŸ‘‰ Roads were better maintained with signs and line markings you could actually see, and pot holes had not been invented.
πŸ‘‰ Supermarkets were not open 24/7 and closed on Sundays so you could always use their car parks for some initial practice.
πŸ‘‰ The test only lasted about 20 minutes.

Your children have so much more to deal with than you ever did so please show them respect, don't pressurise them due to the cost, ask yourself, are you putting a value on their life?

All I ask is to just give them the support they deserve for just attempting to learn to drive on todays roads yet alone facing the dreaded L test.

The question is, would you pass your driving test if I asked you to sit a mock test tomorrow?

Huge congratulations to Reuben Selby on a very well deserved TEST PASS at Scunthorpe this morning with just 3 driving faults! πŸ‘ πŸš— and some fab comments from the examiner on what a lovely drive it was, which is always great to hear.

I certainly can’t take all the credit, as Dad did most of the teaching, but it’s been a real pleasure helping Reuben polish everything up to test standard and get him over that finish line.

Reuben is currently playing semi-professional football and has big ambitions to make it to the top. With his attitude and dedication, I’m sure he’s got every chance!

Wishing you all the very best for the future, Reuben. Stay safe on the roads and good luck with the football journey – I’ll be watching for your name on the big screen πŸ˜‰ and most definitely cheering you on! ⚽🚘πŸ’ͺ🀩

I always get strange looks when I take my learners on a motorway, and often get told by my learners I’m not allowed, so let’s clear it all up.

In 2018 the DVSA changed regulations allowing learner drivers onto motorway as long as:

πŸ‘‰ they are accompanied by an approved driving instructor
πŸ‘‰ they are driving a car fitted with dual controls displaying an β€˜L’
πŸ‘‰ their instructor believes they are competent and ready

No learner is forced onto a motorway, and no instructor is required to offer them. The decision is based on the learner's ability, confidence and readiness.

By the time a learner reaches the motorway, they should already have good control of the vehicle, be capable of driving independently and have demonstrated safe decision making on a variety of roads.

Motorways bring anxiety to students and parents alike, so let’s take the fear away for everyone and learn how to use them safely. All my students where possible take a least 1 motorway lesson before test. If I’m sharing the roads with you, I want you to be safe and capable where ever you drive.

My page has been crazy over the last few months with lots of new followers. So even though this post is a year old, thought it was time to reshare, and introduce myself to everyone. So Hi πŸ‘‹ not much has changed over the year, I’m still here and still doing what I do best.. teaching lots of Isle and Doncaster based Teens how to be safe on the road. If you see me, please give me a wave, or a like if on socials 🀩 🚘

Thought I’d take a minute to introduce myself for those followers that haven’t come across me before…. I’m Katy πŸ‘‹ πŸ˜€ I’m a driving instructor that qualified around 10 years ago. I’m based in the Isle of Axholme and cover both Doncaster and Scunthorpe test centres, with a colleague working alongside me covering Worksop. We offer a kind, safe, patient and relaxed atmosphere where you can learn skills for life, not just to pass your test!! When I’m not in the car teaching, I can most likely be found on holiday with a cocktail in my hand, or at home trying to keep my mischievous puppy at bay πŸ˜†πŸ™„ he is the devil in disguise!!

If you have any driving instruction queries, please don’t hesitate to message my page, I’ll aim to respond within 48 hours. Thanks again for supporting my little business and following my page, and I hope to speak with you soon 🀩

When a student tells you, you should be a β€˜TikTok driving instructor’ not sure whether to take that as a compliment or an insult 🀣

Another day… another beautiful bouquet of flowers left on my doorstep, with the most heartfelt card of thanks which brought a little tear to my eye πŸ€©πŸ’– thanks Camilla Daniels it’s been my absolute pleasure getting you through your test and helping you believe in yourself as a driver and taxi to the little ones πŸ˜‰πŸ˜† can’t wait to see you out and about!

Huge congratulations to Molly Watkinson on passing her driving test today in Doncaster with just 3 driver faults in her own little car! πŸŽ‰πŸš—

That makes it a hat trick of passes for me this week β€” pass number 3! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Molly has always been a very confident and capable driver, but like so many learners, the nerves and anxiety around test day were the biggest challenge. Today she put all of that behind her, held it together brilliantly, and even arrived back at the test centre giggling away with the examiner, totally relaxed and in control!!

An absolutely well-deserved pass and I couldn’t be happier for her, or more proud. Enjoy the freedom, stay safe on the roads, and have fun playing taxi to Olivia πŸ˜‰ 🚘✨
