We are a small registered charity that works 24/7, 365 days a year to rescue, rehabilitate and release our native wild hedgehogs. Based at our home in Poole, Dorset, we help sick, injured and orphaned wild hedgehogs back to full health with the aim of eventually releasing them back to the wild, or appropriate protected sites.

We had a slightly quieter month last month with 116 new entries. We released 73 hedgehogs during the month and have 193 hedgehogs currently in our care.

We still have a high number of juveniles that need to get up to release weight which is why we have such a high number of hedgehogs here at the moment. Approximately 75% of the hogs we have are juveniles.

If you would like to support our work rehabilitating sick, injured and orphan hedgehogs, please consider becoming a regular supporter! We receive no statutory funding so rely completely on the generosity of our kind supporters. Every donation we receive makes a huge difference! https://dorsethedgehogrescue.org/regular-donations/

For the first time in weeks we have gone below 200 hedgehogs in our care - we now have only(!) 198 hedgehogs here, with a further 20 out with foster carers.

We are still manically busy, particularly as 147 of the hogs here are juveniles that require additional support such as hand feeding around the clock.

We are going through food and cleaning supplies (and money!) like mad.

Could you support us by buying items form our Amazon wish list to help us out? You can also order items not on the list and have them sent direct to us - our wish list can be found at https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/CAZWQCNM84C5?ref_=wl_share

**** It seems that Amazon defaults the list view to empty, you have to click the drop down (see red arrow in image) and choose 'All Items' ****

Due to continued growth, we are seeking additional volunteers to join our friendly team to help with daily husbandry for the hedgehogs.

This is a hands-on role, working with sick, injured and orphaned hedgehogs.

You will need to have good mobility and be able to bend and stretch as the cages are in banks from about knee high to above shoulder height.

Full training will be given to all new volunteers.

For further details and to apply, please visit our website at https://dorsethedgehogrescue.org/volunteering/

Please DO NOT call the centre about volunteering as we are very busy with over 200 hedgehogs in our care.

A massive thank you to Loraine at https://robertsjltd.com/ for donating two van loads of Plenty kitchen roll for us to use for cage cleaning.

This will save us a fair bit of money, which is great.

Thank you!
