🚑Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) are lifesaving devices used when someone has a cardiac arrest. Every second counts, and using a defibrillator can greatly increase a person's chances of survival❤️‍🩹

Our Great Manx Defib Hunt is a family-friendly treasure hunt which aims to increase public awareness of PAD sites across the Isle of Man 🚨

Get ready for an adventure across the Isle of Man! 🏝️

From Monday 31st August until Wednesday 30th September, we’re challenging you to take part in the Great Manx Defib Hunt! 🎉

👀 20 named ambulance stickers have been strategically placed at 20 Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) locations across the Isle of Man.

Your mission is to:
🔎 Find all 20 locations
🚑 Discover the name of the ambulance at each location
📝 Keep a record of both the ambulance name AND the location
🏆 Find all 20 and complete the entry form with your contact details to be entered into our prize draw!

Update Regarding Incident at Castletown and Malew Fire & Ambulance Station

Following the incident that took place at around 17:00 on Thursday 13 August at Castletown and Malew Fire and Ambulance Station, The Isle of Man Ambulance Service would like to reassure the public that ambulance cover in the South of the Island was maintained throughout the incident and will continue to be maintained in the coming days and weeks.

We have invoked our business continuity plan and have established a temporary ambulance station at Castletown Coastguard Station, which is in close proximity to our current site.

This will ensure the continued delivery of emergency medical services to the community within the south of the island.

The Isle of Man Ambulance Service would like to thank all emergency responders and partner agencies for their assistance and support during the incident.

Isle of Man Ambulance Service staff joined firefighters from the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service for a joint training exercise last night 🚑🤝🚒

Firefighters from Peel and Kirk Michael responded with our staff to a simulated agricultural incident. Teams from both services worked closely together to safely triage, treat, and extricate a number of simulated patients.

Training exercises such as this provide an opportunity to safely test procedures to prepare for a real incident. Staff are able to develop their practice in a safe environment and joint exercises provide rich opportunities for interprofessional learning

🚑 Patients help mark International Paramedics Day

Patients and their families joined colleagues from the Isle of Man Ambulance Service and partner agencies on Wednesday 08 July to mark International Paramedics Day by sharing their experiences of cardiac arrest and their recovery journeys.

The event provided an opportunity to hear directly from patients, reflect on the importance of joined-up working across emergency services, and recognise the skill, compassion and professionalism shown by paramedics and ambulance colleagues every day.

❤ Manx Heart Foundation in conjunction with the Isle of Man Ambulance Service will be reaching out to others involved in out of hospital cardiac arrest with a view to organising a support group.

With this year’s theme focusing on Innovation and Integration, the Isle of Man Ambulance Service continues to work closely with partner organisations to strengthen the response to medical emergencies. This includes delivering training to Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service colleagues, who now routinely respond to cardiac arrests, as well as providing first aid training to the Police, Coastguard and Civil Defence.

💚Danny Grace, Manx Care Paramedic, said:
“International Paramedics Day is an important opportunity to recognise the dedication not only of paramedics, but of all our ambulance colleagues and support staff. It is also a chance to celebrate the difference they make to patients and families every day. Hearing directly from people who have experienced cardiac arrest is a powerful reminder of the value of timely, compassionate and integrated care.”

The event also reflected the wider aims of International Paramedics Day, which celebrates paramedics as highly skilled and adaptable healthcare professionals working across a wide range of roles and settings to improve outcomes for patients.
