A warm welcome to our newest member, Firechief Global!

Firechief made its first fire blanket in 1963 and now supplies a wide range of fire safety products from its base in Rutland and its distribution centre in Birmingham. The range carries BSI Kitemark and LPCB approvals, and the company also runs training through its Firechief Academy.

Our Level 3 Award in the Servicing and Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers is underway in Telford this week, delivered by Joe Newman.

Over four days, delegates split their time between classroom theory and hands-on practical work. The course finishes with a written assessment and a one-to-one practical assessment for the EAL Level 3 qualification.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Windermere for the British Fire Consortium’s 150th meeting!

It was a great day bringing members together, with plenty packed into the programme.

We were joined by Professor Paul Christensen, who spoke about lithium-ion battery fires, EN 3-11 and the new Class L, covering some important developments and considerations for the fire industry.

The afternoon saw members take to the water for a boat trip on Lake Windermere, followed by an evening dinner and entertainment from “Last One to Laugh.”

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make such a significant milestone meeting one to remember.
We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Our Level 3 Fire Door Inspection course at Biggin Hill is taking place this week, delivered by Lee.

Over two days delegates develop the knowledge to assess a fire doorset against its certification, identify and interpret defects, and record their findings to a standard that will stand up to scrutiny, gaining an EAL Level 3 qualification on completion.

This course consistently fills quickly and this date is fully booked. The next available place is 2 November at Telford.

The British Fire Consortium has reached a fantastic milestone - our 150th meeting.

To mark the occasion, we sat down with Graham Newman, BFC President and long-serving member, to publish a new article on our website looking back at the history behind this milestone and the importance of bringing people across the fire industry together.

Fire door inspection is a discipline in its own right, and one where the standard of the inspection record matters as much as the inspection itself.

Our Level 3 Fire Door Inspection course is running at Telford this week, delivered by Lee.
