THOMAS THYNE ARRESTED IN ARBROATH AFTER CHILLING ABDUCTION AND ASSAULT ON TEENAGER AND MOTHER
A terrifying incident unfolded in Arbroath when 16-year-old girl was abducted by a man described as a disturbing stranger, who refused to release her and left her fighting for her life.

The attacker, identified as Thomas Thyne, approached the young girl on a local street and forcibly grabbed her, claiming he had “smoked three joints and tanked a few cans” at the time of the assault.

The young victim, who was described as petrified, later suffered a severe panic attack as a result of the ordeal.

Earlier that evening, Thyne’s unsettling behavior was also directed towards a mother and her six-year-old son outside the Saltire Centre.

Witnesses reported that Thyne had been harassing the woman and her child, raising questions about whether his actions had a s*xual component that might necessitate registration as a s*x offender.

During the court proceedings, Sheriff Paul Ralph issued a stern warning to Thyne, who is currently remanded at HMP Perth.

The sheriff emphasized the gravity of the charges, stating, “Don’t be under any illusions.

It’s almost inevitable that you are going to receive a custodial sentence.” The court heard that Thyne, aged 36, has a minor criminal record that includes theft and breach of the peace.

The first incident occurred around 8:30 pm on August 18 of the previous year, when the victim disembarked from a bus with her son and noticed Thyne sitting alone in the Saltire playpark.

He then began to follow them, muttering “gibberish” to himself, according to the prosecution.

As the woman entered a public footpath leading to her home, Thyne continued to trail closely behind her.

He then asked her, “what one of these houses are yours?” causing her to feel frightened and cautious about revealing her residence.

To avoid giving away her location, she pretended she was only in the area to drop something off for a friend.

Thyne persisted, asking for her phone number and then requesting her to type her name into Facebook, further unsettling her.

Despite her efforts to distance herself and seek help from a neighbor, Thyne refused to leave her alone, forcing her to hurriedly return home to safety.

Later that same night, just after 10 pm, the teenage girl was walking home when she encountered Thyne again on the same street.

She noticed him shouting “f*** off” randomly, and she quickly tried to pass him.

However, Thyne offered her a bite of the hot dog he was holding, which she found odd.

The prosecution noted that she believed Thyne was under the influence of something, as he admitted to having smoked three joints and consumed several cans of alcohol.

Thyne then asked if she had any w**d and requested to wipe his ketchup-soaked hands on her.

The situation took a more sinister turn when Thyne began to stroke her back repeatedly from her shoulder to her waist for about ten seconds.

He then told her, “you can come home with me,” which made her extremely uncomfortable.

She told him to stop touching her, to which he responded, “I won’t tell a soul.” Despite her repeated attempts to escape, Thyne blocked her path.

She then heard a car engine and heard Thyne shout, “it’s the police,” before grabbing her from behind in a bearhug.

The girl described how Thyne locked his arms around her by holding his elbows and began dragging her along the path.

She struggled, resisted, and screamed, feeling petrified as he continued to pull her for at least 30 seconds.

Eventually, she managed to slip free from his grip and ran away, suffering a panic attack along the way, before reaching her home safely.

Police later found Thyne sleeping on a couch at his mother’s residence.

He was noted to be “difficult” and “belligerent” during his detention.

Thyne pleaded guilty to charges of abusive behavior, assault, and abduction.

His solicitor, David Sinclair, mentioned that a psychiatric report had been prepared for further assessment.

During the court hearing, Sheriff Ralph expressed concern about the potential s*xual element involved in the offenses.

He stated, “The offence jumps off the page that there is a s*xual element – the question whether it’s significant.

There’s not enough in the offences as narrated at this stage that I would make a determination without knowing more about Mr Thyne.” As a result, sentencing was deferred until April to allow for the preparation of a more comprehensive report.

Both the defense and the Crown will submit their arguments regarding the possible s*xual nature of Thyne’s actions.

The sheriff concluded by condemning Thyne’s conduct, saying, “These offences are despicable.

You harassed not one but two females, including a 16-year-old, to the point where you dragged her towards bushes where she may have been unaware of what could happen.”

DANNY ROSS ARRESTED IN ARBROATH: SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIM STILL IN THERAPY
An individual named Danny Ross from Arbroath has been legally mandated to provide financial compensation to a woman he was found guilty of s*xually assaulting.

The incident in question took place on June 30, 2019, and the victim has been undergoing ongoing therapy to cope with the trauma caused by the assault.

During a court session at Forfar Sheriff Court, the details of the case were thoroughly examined.

The court heard that the assault occurred at a property located within Arbroath.

Despite Ross's denial of the charges, Sheriff Richard McFarlane delivered a verdict of guilty following a full trial process.

Ross, who resides at Moonlight Gardens, faced the court's judgment after the evidence was considered.

Nick Whelan, representing Ross, argued that his client was currently under a compulsion order, which indicates a mental health condition that influences his behavior.

Despite this, Whelan maintained that Ross was innocent of the specific charges brought against him.

The court, however, did not accept this defense and proceeded with sentencing.

As part of the court's ruling, Sheriff McFarlane ordered Ross to be placed on the s*x offenders register for a period of nine months.

Additionally, Ross was placed under supervision for the same duration, requiring him to adhere to certain conditions during this time.

The court also mandated that Ross complete 150 hours of unpaid community work as part of his rehabilitation.

Furthermore, Ross was instructed to pay a sum of £250 in compensation to the victim, a requirement that must be fulfilled before the end of his supervision period.

This case highlights the ongoing legal and social consequences faced by individuals convicted of s*xual offenses, and the importance of justice for victims within the community of Arbroath.

A man from Arbroath, identified as 45-year-old Daniel Wrona, has pleaded guilty to assaulting a 14-year-old boy and to being abusive towards his partner.

Wrona appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court accompanied by an interpreter to admit to the charges of assault and threatening or abusive conduct that occurred on March 9 this year.

The court was told that Wrona assaulted the teenager—who cannot be named due to legal restrictions—by pushing him in the body.

He also admitted to shouting and swearing at his partner, demanding to know where she had been, and referring to her in a derogatory and abusive manner.

Both incidents took place at Wrona's residence on Warddykes Road.

Sheriff Mark Thorley noted that Wrona is currently serving a community payback order for similar offences.

The court ordered reports to be prepared before sentencing, which is scheduled for June 6.

Keith Clark, a 66-year-old man from Arbroath, has been found guilty of engaging in inappropriate s*xual contact with a woman and a girl during a Christmas celebration.

The incident occurred at a festive event held within a masonic hall located in Monifieth, a town known for its community gatherings and local traditions.

According to court records and local news reports, Clark's misconduct took place amidst the holiday festivities, which were attended by numerous community members.

The nature of his actions was deemed serious enough to warrant legal action, leading to his conviction.

Following the ruling, authorities mandated that Keith Clark be registered on the s*x offenders register, a measure that ensures public awareness and monitoring of individuals convicted of s*xual misconduct.

The case drew attention from the local media, which detailed the circumstances surrounding the incident and Clark's subsequent legal consequences.

The reports confirmed that Clark was found guilty of touching the two females inappropriately during the event, an act that has now classified him as a s*x offender on the national registry.

Details of the case highlight the importance of safeguarding community events and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address and prevent s*xual misconduct in public and private gatherings.

Clark's actions have not only led to legal repercussions but also to a lasting impact on his reputation within the community of Arbroath and beyond.

ARBROATH PA******LE JAILED FOR HIS ROLE IN ROBBING A TEENAGE BOY IN ANGUS HAS BEEN HIT WITH A FURTHER PRISON SENTENCE

A pa******le hit with a jail term for his role in robbing a teenage boy in Angus has been hit with a further prison sentence and will be on the s*x offenders register for life for possessing child abuse files.

Sinister Christopher Sloan amassed almost 1,000 images and videos at his home in Arbroath – a flagrant breach of his stringent, court-imposed s*xual harm prevention order.

The 31-year-old spent only 10 days at liberty before he was hauled into custody for the November 2024 offence.

He is now serving a two-and-a-half-year sentence after previously pleading guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court.

In May, Sloan was jailed at Forfar Sheriff Court for robbing a boy of a mobile phone in a wooded area in the Angus town.

Sloan was released from prison on November 15 last year after being sentenced to four months behind bars for flouting strict rules about his internet use, imposed after being caught with more than 14 hours of sick abuse material.

Police arrested Sloan on November 25 where hundreds of files were discovered, some of which were at the highest level of depravity.

Thirty videos were also found which had a runtime of almost six hours.

HMP Perth prisoner Sloan was sentenced after the completion of background reports.

A psychiatric report concluded Sloan was not suffering from a treatable, psychiatric illness.

Sheriff Gregor Murray jailed him for 30 months and placed him on the s*x offenders register indefinitely.

He said: “You suffer from a number of troubling issues which make it likely you will reoffend in the community.

“There’s no possibility of you being accommodated or rehabilitated in a community setting.”

NIKOLAY BRANTANOV SHOCKS ARBROATH WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT AND INDECENT EXPOSURE IN SPRINGFIELD PARK

A disturbing series of s*xual offenses has rocked the town of Arbroath, with a man identified as Nikolay Brantanov, aged 23, now facing serious legal consequences after a series of alarming incidents in Springfield Park.

Brantanov, a resident of Arbroath’s High Street, appeared before Forfar Sheriff Court to answer charges related to these unsettling acts.

Throughout the proceedings, a Bulgarian interpreter was present to assist him, ensuring he fully understood the charges and proceedings against him.

The incidents in question occurred on December 29 within Springfield Park, a popular local recreational area.

According to court records, Brantanov first targeted a woman in the park, following her closely before making physical contact.

He touched her arm and buttocks in a manner that was clearly unwanted and invasive, constituting a s*xual assault.

Later that same day, in the same location, Brantanov committed a further offense by exposing himself to another woman.

He did so by opening his jacket to reveal his erect p***s, an act of indecent exposure that caused significant distress to the victim.

Following his admission of guilt to both incidents, Brantanov has been placed on the s*x offenders register, a move that underscores the severity of his actions and the community’s concern for public safety.

The court has deferred sentencing until July 17, allowing for the preparation of background reports that will likely influence the final judgment.

This case highlights the ongoing issues of personal safety and the importance of vigilance in public spaces, especially in well-frequented parks like Springfield Park in Arbroath.

The community and authorities await the upcoming sentencing, which will determine the legal consequences for Brantanov’s disturbing conduct.

ARBROATH MAN NORMAN MATHIESON CAUGHT IN SEXUAL GROOMING SCHEME WITH 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL

Norman George Mathieson, aged 65 and residing on Keptie Road in Arbroath, has admitted to serious criminal charges related to his inappropriate and illegal communications with a minor.

The charges stem from his actions involving a 14-year-old girl, whom he engaged with through social media platforms, specifically Facebook.

Mathieson was found to have created a fictitious online persona under the alias "Mr Bean".

This fake account was used as a tool to groom and establish a s*xualized communication with the young girl, who is legally protected from identification due to her age.

The court proceedings revealed that Mathieson’s interactions with the girl were not only inappropriate but also deeply disturbing in nature.

According to the evidence presented, Mathieson had planned to meet the girl after school hours, along with her friend, indicating a calculated attempt to meet her in person.

The case also uncovered that he had sent explicit photographs to the girl, including images of his ge****ls, and had described in explicit detail what he intended to do to her.

These actions constitute serious violations of the law and highlight the extent of his misconduct.

The court has scheduled the sentencing for July 17, 2025.

The delay is due to ongoing investigations, including the examination of additional evidence such as indecent images of children, which have been uncovered and are currently under review by the Procurator Fiscal.

This further investigation underscores the gravity of the case and the authorities’ commitment to thoroughly prosecuting such offenses.

ARBROATH MAN SENTENCED FOR SENDING EXPLICIT MESSAGES AND EXPOSING HIMSELF TO YOUNG GIRLS

A social media creep preyed on children in a go-karting chat group and begged them for intimate photographs.

Twisted Lewis Davidson exposed himself to one of the young girls during a live video call and phoned another 107 times in just five days.

The 20-year-old, from Arbroath, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted a series of s*xual offences against the three girls, then aged 14 and 15.

Davidson was spared detention but placed on the s*x offenders register for two years.

Prosecutor Andrew Harding said all three of Davidson’s young victims were friends with each other.

“They knew the accused through a mutual interest in go-karting,” he said.

“They were all involved – with others – in a group conversation on Snapchat.” In December last year, Davidson began messaging the youngsters.

He introduced himself and the conversations were initially “fine,” the court heard.

Matters escalated when Davidson began video-calling and phoning one of the youngsters – Girl A – then aged 14.

“The witness was not sure how he had obtained her phone number,” Mr Harding said.

In one call, he stated he was 21.

When told he was talking to a 14-year-old, he said he would wait until she was 16.

“He did not go into detail about what that meant,” the fiscal depute said.

“But the witness assumed he meant romantically.” Girl A was at home on February 24, when Davidson video called her.

“He asked her to put her camera on and asked what she was wearing,” said Mr Harding.

“He was described as being quite forceful; however she did not send him any pictures.

“Without warning, he flipped his camera round to show his erect p***s.” The girl hung up immediately when she realised he was performing a solo s*x act.

He contacted her the next day and again pleaded for photographs.

Girl A declined and blocked him.

The court heard Davidson started calling Girl B, 15, on Snapchat in early February.

He bombarded her with calls – 107 within five days.

The girl said she would only be friends with him if he stopped constantly calling her, then decided to block him.

Both teenagers reported the incidents to police and handed over screenshots.

The youngest girl was noted as being “tearful” as she spoke about his conduct.

Towards the end of 2024, Davidson messaged Girl C privately on Snapchat.

She was 15 at the time.

The fiscal depute said: “Conversations started about go-karting but escalated to the accused calling her beautiful and complementing her on her appearance.

“As this continued, she told the accused she was 15 and this type of conversation was wrong.

“The messages escalated from compliments to the accused asking for pictures of the witness.

“He specifically asked her for pictures of what she was wearing and pictures of her breasts and buttocks.” She refused and blocked him on all platforms and was also said to have been “tearful” when she reported matters to police.

Solicitor Lyndsey Barber, defending, said: “There is an element of immaturity on behalf of Mr Davidson.

“He is embarrassed that he behaved extremely poorly.” “He has apologised and shown remorse.” “He pled guilty well in advance of the trial to avoid further trauma to the complainers.” Sheriff Peter Hammond told Davidson: “You have pled guilty to serious offences of a s*xual nature and persistent nuisance conduct involving three girls under the age of 16.

“These offences are concerning and clearly caused distress to the girls involved.” He said he took into account Davidson’s young age and lack of previous offending, adding: “This has clearly crossed the custodial threshold but I am satisfied there is a direct alternative available.” Davidson, of Millfield Place, Arbroath, was placed on supervision for two years and ordered to comply with a series of conduct requirements.

These included heavy restrictions on his internet use and a ban on contact with under-16s without permission from his supervisor.

Any breaches would likely lead to a custodial sentence, Davidson was told.

He was further ordered to carry out 160 hours unpaid work.

His phone was seized as part of police investigations and was forfeited by the court.

ARBROATH THEATRE HELPER FOUND GUILTY OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT TOWARDS TEENAGERS

An 82-year-old Arbroath theatre helper is on the s*x offenders register after being found guilty of s*xual misconduct towards two teenagers at the venue where he volunteered.

David Ferguson, a production support assistant at the Abbey Theatre in Arbroath, stood trial denying the s*xual assaults.

Forfar Sheriff Court heard Ferguson was a “grandfather figure” at the entirely volunteer-run theatre on Abbot Street.

Neither of Ferguson’s victims can be identified for legal reasons.

After the evidence concluded, prosecutor Jill Drummond told the court: “He was an adult of older years who was there and portrayed as a grandfather figure.

“Although they gave him cuddles, they felt they couldn’t say no.

“He was an adult.

It’s not just the age difference.” # # # ‘Vulnerability taken advantage of’ After going off the bench for more than half an hour to consider her verdict, Sheriff Clair McLachlan found Ferguson guilty of three charges.

She said: “Firstly, I don’t need to be satisfied that you carried out these actions, if you did, for s*xual gratification.

“The test is an objective one – behaviour is to be regarded as s*xual if a reasonable person would, in all the circumstances, consider it to be s*xual.

“A kiss can be considered s*xual if to goes beyond a demonstration of affection.

“An elderly male kissing a young, unrelated female does go beyond a demonstration of affection.

The same logic can be applied to a hug.

“Both complainers gave evidence about lingering hugs lasting for several seconds.” # # # The sheriff noted one teenager told the trial she felt unable to say no and sometimes redirected Ferguson’s kisses, which were aimed for her lips, towards her cheek.

She also noted the “significant age gap” and “disparity in position of trust”.

“True consent is not present where the vulnerability of the complainer has been taken advantage of by the offender,” Sheriff McLachlan said.

“This complainer was young, she was naïve, she was well-meaning, she was anxious not to offend somebody – she regarded (the accused) as a grandfather figure.

“I found both of these witnesses credible and reliable.

The evidence was measured, it was fairly-given, it was consistent throughout.” # # # Fergusson was found guilty of engaging in s*xual activity towards one girl, in her mid-teens, during 2022 and 2023.

He kissed her on the lips and repeatedly hugged her without consent.

He was also found guilty of s*xually assaulting a teenager of similar age in December 2022 and the following December.

In 2022, he repeatedly kissed her on the lips and cheek and hugged her without consent.

The following year, he attempted to kiss her on the lips without consent.

He has a single previous conviction and was placed on the s*x offenders register.

He will return to court in January for sentencing after background reports and a risk assessment.

The court described his explanation about a specific incident on December 16 as unsatisfactory and found the evidence proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Ferguson committed these actions.
