🚀✨ The is finally open over at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, here in Newham, East London and from today! 🙌🏽
I am beyond thrilled - it isn’t just a new building: it’s a powerhouse for our community, our young creatives, and the next chapter of East London’s incredible story in driving creativity and culture in the UK.
🎶🏾 What makes this opening truly iconic is the debut exhibition ‘The Music is Black: A British Story’ - a breathtaking celebration of 125 years of Black British music: from the jazz and swing of the 1900s to the Grime, Drill, and Garage sounds that were born right here in our East London streets.
Seeing objects like Joan Armatrading’s guitar and Stormzy’s Glastonbury vest in a world-class museum on our home turf is a moment of pure pride.
For years, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure the Olympic legacy delivers real results for Newham residents and east Londoners.
From securing local jobs and apprenticeships during construction to ensuring this world-class institution is free and accessible to every single person in our borough is what Building A Fairer Newham
looks like in action!👌🏽
