Today we are sad to announce the passing of our friend and colleague Councillor Lesley McDonald.

Chair of South Lanarkshire Labour Group and the Council's Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, Lesley was an important part of the Council Administration.

Under her convenership, Finance and Corporate Resources have overseen an expanding capital programme, including investment in a new Larkhall Leisure Centre, better conditions for council employees and new initiatives to maximise the incomes of those in need.

As a councillor, she was entrenched in the community and civic life of Larkhall and the surrounding area. She led local charities, supported local causes and championed investment in her ward.

All of us at South Lanarkshire Labour will miss her.
