Recently, FoRP was fortunate to host a community litter pick. Here is Nilesh's report.

"A dedicated team of volunteers from Sri Sathya Sai Pinner Centre, part of the Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation, came together for a community litter-picking activity. Working with enthusiasm and a shared commitment to serving the local community, the volunteers collected numerous bags of litter, helping to make the local area cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for everyone.

(Love All, Serve All. Help Ever, Hurt Never. )"

Thank you!

Dear Volunteers,

We have another of our regular working parties this coming Sunday. Jutta has kindly agreed to lead this one. I am away at a family event with the grandchildren on Sunday.

Roxbourne Rough Sunday July 12th

Meet as ever at 10am at the shipping container
Jobs to possibly do this time -

Cut the grass around the path edges.
Water the trees mainly the baby ones - barrow and water containers are in the shipping container.
Bramble bashing
Litter picking
Empty the bins at the benches - barrow needed.

As it will be very warm and sunny don't forget your hat.
T & biscuits and cool drinks as ever in the pavilion after.
Have fun and thanks for all the work you do.

Hello

Thanks for your interest in the upcoming launch of ParkBathe Mindful walks in Harrow ! We are working with Anita at the Harrow parks team to facilitate free monthly,e1-hour peer-guided Forest Bathing walks for the community in West Harrow park and Kenton Rec.

And we have exciting opportunities for local people to get involved with free training provided !

Shinrin Yoku or Forest Bathing is a Japanese health practice prescribed to up to 5 million people a year in Japan. It is clinically shown to reduce stress and anxiety. Our one hour accessible slow and silent walks now support over 700+ people a year in Southeast London throughout 11 parks with many people returning week after week. Our peer reviewed paper saw a 40% reduction in anxiety and a 50% reduction in overthinking.

The sessions (small groups of up to 10) are not a walk and talk, not a nature walk and follow the same sequence every time hence they can be socially prescribed.

Training opportunities:
We offer free training for volunteers to lead these sessions, plus support throughout the whole project.

Walk Leaders guide the session.
Ambassadors support on each session.

The training is comprehensive and provides everything you need to lead a session, with all the heavy lifting support from us as we book all the attendees so Walk Leaders simply turn up each month. We've made it as easy as possible - you get instruction cards on a lanyard with a script so you do not need to learn anything, just read from the script! (More details in the PDF) The next training will be July with in-person training on site on 25th & 26th July in Harrow.

Most of our Walk Leaders have been with us for 2-3 years as they love being part of the ParkBathe family and we run team events and provide lots of support. Many enjoy seeing participants return month after month and also attend for their own wellbeing. They tell us that the training spills over into other aspects of their life as they build confidence, learn to lead a small group of people in an intuitive and gentle way - AND see their green space with new eyes.

We are now a team of 28 and we are actively recruiting both Walk Leaders and Ambassadors to get involved with our launch in West Harrow Park and Kenton recreation ground.

This presentation gives the background to the project if you want to know more https://youtu.be/5v-NwOLOq48

I'd love to hear back from you - and happy to chat on the phone if you wish. Please forward to any groups that might be interested in this opportunity.

Best wishes
