I love hearing that my clients are finding things easier πŸ’ͺπŸ˜‚ That's what we're working towards!

But if you tell me a set was easy, you can't blame me for wanting to see what else you've got in you! πŸ‘€πŸ€£ If the weight is feeling good and your technique is on point, then it might be time to add a bit more and keep that progress going!

It's all about making progress at your own pace and building on what you can already do. And if you tell me it's easy, well… you know what's coming next πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ

16/10/2026

πŸ“’πŸ’ͺ🏼 Just a little update from me regarding availability at Lukaris PT Centre!

After giving it some thought, I've decided that I won't be taking on any new private PT clients during the week until the new year.

Things have become increasingly busy, which is absolutely brilliant and something I'm incredibly grateful for! πŸ˜ŠπŸ™ŒπŸΌ

However, I also want to make sure I'm continuing to give my very best to everyone I currently work with, both my private PT clients and with Activate Blaenau Gwent. πŸ’ͺ🏼

I never want to get to the point where I'm taking on more people than I can realistically manage and the quality of my sessions starts to suffer.

I also need to make sure I'm finding a bit of time for my own life, training and everything else outside of the gym! πŸ˜‚πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

For me, it's important to practise what I encourage my clients to do, which is finding a balance that works and is sustainable long term.

πŸ“… SATURDAY AVAILABILITY

I do still have a few spaces available on Saturdays for anyone interested in starting personal training, although these are limited and may fill up soon too!

πŸ“© Feel free to drop me a message if you'd like to enquire about those remaining spaces.

I hope everyone can understand my decision. I want to be fair to my existing clients, but also to myself.

I'd much rather give 100% to the people I'm currently working with than stretch myself too thin trying to fit everyone in.

A massive thank you to everyone who continues to support Lukaris PT Centre. It really does mean a lot, and I'm incredibly grateful to be in a position where I need to make this decision! β€οΈπŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Here's to finishing the rest of 2026 strong! πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯ SOME SERIOUS STRENGTH PROGRESS AT LUKARIS PT CENTRE! πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ🏼

Thought I'd start sharing some of the personal bests my clients have achieved over the years, and what better exercise to start with than the Dumbbell Bench Press! πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’ͺ🏼

It's always great seeing someone lift a heavy weight, but what I find even more impressive is looking back at where they started and just how far they've come! πŸ“ˆπŸ‘πŸΌ

πŸ† MALE DUMBBELL BENCH PRESS TOP 5

πŸ₯‡ Gavin M: 48kg x 3 reps

Our previous gym challenge winner from August to October 2026 has done it again! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

Gavin actually achieved this PB TODAY!

When he first started training with me, he was benching 20kg dumbbells for 7 reps. He's now pressing 48kg dumbbells for 3 reps! Absolutely massive improvement! πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

πŸ₯ˆ Joseph R: 42.5kg x 8 reps

Joseph started training with me at the beginning of this year, initially benching 12.5kg dumbbells for 10 reps.

Fast forward to the beginning of September and he managed 42.5kg for 8 reps! Brilliant progress in a relatively short space of time! πŸ”₯

πŸ₯‰ Karl D: 42.5kg x 5 reps

Karl achieved this back in May, having originally started at 20kg for 10 reps!

Not only has Karl become considerably stronger, but he's also made some fantastic changes to his body composition, getting leaner while continuing to build strength! πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

I'm fairly certain Karl actually managed an even heavier PB on my old leaderboard, but this is the best I can currently confirm from my records! πŸ˜‚

4️⃣ Ian G: 40kg x 6 reps

Another brilliant achievement!

Some of my older training notes are a little difficult to track down, but I do have records of Ian starting at 20kg dumbbells.

He's continued making sustainable changes to his training and strength over time! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏼

5️⃣ Calen J: 37.5kg x 4 reps

Calen started his journey with me benching 25kg dumbbells for 5 reps.

He's since worked his way up to 37.5kg for 4 reps! Another great example of what consistent training can achieve! πŸ”₯πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

πŸ† FEMALE DUMBBELL BENCH PRESS TOP 4

πŸ₯‡ Vic B: 27.5kg x 2 reps

An absolutely solid lift from Vic, achieved back in July! πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

Looking back through my older notes, she originally started benching 10kg dumbbells for 10 reps.

Now she's pressing 27.5kg dumbbells! Fantastic improvement! πŸ‘πŸΌ

πŸ₯ˆ Cam T: 22.5kg x 6 reps

Cam originally started at 15kg for 6 reps and has since progressed to 22.5kg for the same number of reps!

Brilliant strength development! πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

πŸ₯‰ Clare V: 22.5kg x 4 reps

Clare started out benching 10kg dumbbells for 5 reps.

She's now worked her way up to 22.5kg for 4 reps! Another fantastic improvement! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ

4️⃣ Naomi T: 22.5kg x 2 reps

And of course, you all know Naomi! 🀣❀️

When she first started, she was benching around 7.5kg dumbbells for 10 reps.

She's now pressing 22.5kg for 2 reps! Not bad at all! πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ🏼

πŸ”₯ IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THE NUMBERS!

I think the most important thing to take away from all of this is that everyone started somewhere different.

Some started with 7.5kg, others with 20kg or 25kg. Everyone has their own abilities, goals and starting points.

It's not about comparing yourself to the person next to you. It's about looking back at where YOU started and recognising the progress you've made! πŸ’ͺ🏼

And remember, these are just some of the PBs I've managed to pull together from my records. Plenty of other clients have made fantastic improvements too! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Massive well done to everyone featured! It's been brilliant watching your strength develop over time! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ”₯

I'll hopefully share some more personal bests from different exercises soon! πŸ‘€πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

A massive congratulations once again to everyone who took part in our latest gym challenge! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

This was definitely one of the toughest challenges we've done, and everyone who gave it a go deserves a massive well done! Even completing it was an achievement in itself! πŸ˜…πŸ”₯

πŸ† FINAL MALE TOP 3

πŸ₯‡ Gavin M: 3:17.05
πŸ₯ˆ Luke (Tafy Project): 3:39.13
πŸ₯‰ Aaron R: 3:39.67

πŸ† FINAL FEMALE TOP 3

πŸ₯‡ Gemma D: 4:01.50
πŸ₯ˆ Tracey S: 5:13.27
πŸ₯‰ Tarita: 5:19.98

πŸ… The customised medals are now ready and I've started handing them out to our winners! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I know not everyone has received theirs just yet, but don't worry! I'll make sure you get your medal when I next see you! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸΌ

To everyone who's received theirs already, I hope you enjoy your medals! You've certainly earned them! πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯‰πŸ‘πŸΌ

And a massive thank you to everyone who got involved, whether you made the leaderboard or not. It's been brilliant seeing so many of you give this one a go and push yourselves! πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

Hopefully we'll have another challenge ready for the new year! πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚πŸ†

A common mistake people make with bicep curls is letting their elbows drift too far forward as they curl the weight up.

A little movement is fine, but your elbows should stay relatively close to your sides throughout the rep.

In the photo on the left, the elbows come too far forward, bringing more shoulder movement into the exercise.

In the photo on the right, the elbows stay more stable so the focus stays on the biceps.

Curls are an isolation exercise.

If you can’t control the weight without your elbows drifting forward, lower the weight and clean up your form.

You’ll get more out of every rep.

πŸ’ͺ🏼 A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME! πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

Thought I'd share a little bit about myself, my background and how I ended up doing what I do today! 😁

I first started training in a gym at the age of 15 and pretty much fell in love with it from there! πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ˜‚

At 19, I joined the Royal Navy, where I served for a little over 4 years as a Warfare Specialist aboard a Type 23 frigate. βš“πŸš’

I left the Navy at the end of 2019 and decided to pursue something I'd always enjoyed, fitness!

That eventually led to me opening Lukaris PT Centre at the beginning of 2021! πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

It's certainly been a journey since then! Plenty of good experiences, plenty of difficult moments and A LOT of lessons learned along the way! πŸ˜‚πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Something else you might not know is that I used to box quite regularly! πŸ₯Š I had a few competitive fights over the years, although it's not something I do anymore.

I've always enjoyed challenging myself physically, whether that's lifting weights, running or trying something completely different!

And for anyone interested in numbers, here are a few of my personal bests over the years! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ‹οΈ STRENGTH PERSONAL BESTS

πŸ’ͺ🏼 Barbell Bench Press: 120kg

πŸ’ͺ🏼 Hex Bar Deadlift: 225kg

πŸ’ͺ🏼 Dumbbell Bench Press: 54kg each hand for 3 reps

πŸ’ͺ🏼 Barbell Squat: 150kg for 3 reps

πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ RUNNING PERSONAL BESTS

⚑ 5km: 19:52

⚑ 10km: 44:55

⚑ Half Marathon: 1:41:45

⚑ Marathon: 4:23:53

That marathon time still makes me laugh because I paced it absolutely terribly! πŸ˜‚πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ Started off feeling great and then very quickly found out why pacing is so important! 🀣

πŸŽ“πŸ’ͺ🏼 MY QUALIFICATIONS

Alongside my own training and experience over the years, I've also worked towards gaining a number of qualifications to help develop my knowledge and the support I can offer clients! πŸ“šπŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

πŸš‘ Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

πŸ’ͺ🏼 Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training

πŸ‹οΈ Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral

πŸŽ“ Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Health Sciences

πŸ₯— RSPH Level 4 Award in Nutrition

Always plenty more to learn, and I certainly don't claim to know everything! But continuing to improve my knowledge and develop as a trainer is something that's always been important to me! 😊πŸ’ͺ🏼

Now, I've never claimed to be a world be**er at anything. There's always someone stronger, faster or better at something, and that's absolutely fine!

But one thing I can say is that I give 100% into whatever I put my mind to. Whether that's my own training, running my business or helping the people I work with! πŸ’ͺ🏼

And that's something I try to get across to my clients too.

You don't have to be the strongest, the fastest or the fittest person in the room.

You don't have to train perfectly every week, hit personal bests constantly or compare yourself to what someone else is doing.

Life gets busy, motivation comes and goes, and sometimes things don't go to plan. I've experienced plenty of that myself! πŸ˜‚

For me, it's about making the effort, being consistent where you can and trying to improve over time.

You don't have to be the best at something to give it your best. πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

And that's a little bit about the person behind Lukaris PT Centre! πŸ˜πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
