Several residents have contacted us over the last couple of weeks regarding the overgrown grassed areas and shrubbery on the Trapwood and Gillars Green estates.

We have been pressing Torus to sort this, and they have started work this morning on the Gillars Green estate and the Trapwood estate will follow. If anything is missed or if you feel like it requires attention, let us know.

Today I officially signed my Declaration of Acceptance of Office as a Liberal Democrat Councillor for Eccleston on St Helens Borough Council.

I am incredibly proud and honoured to have been elected to represent the people of Eccleston, and also proud to have been re-elected as a Parish Councillor for Eccleston Parish Council.

Eccleston is a fantastic community and I am committed to working hard for all residents, listening to concerns, supporting local people and helping protect and improve our area for the future.

Thank you to everyone who placed their trust in me and supported our local Liberal Democrat Focus Team. Whether you voted for me or not, I will always do my best to represent the whole community.

One issue that continues to be raised with us is the condition of our roads and potholes across the borough. We currently have over 5,700 potholes scheduled to be repaired across St Helens, however only around 2,700 of these have actually been reported by residents. In many cases, reporting issues is the only way the council becomes aware that repairs are needed.

Myself and my colleagues will be out and about identifying and reporting issues, but we also need the help of residents to locate problems in their local streets and communities. Please continue reporting potholes and highway issues when you see them so we can help ensure they are addressed.

If you need to contact me regarding any local issue, concern or idea, please feel free to get in touch:

πŸ“§ [email protected]

Please bear in mind that I also work full time, so if I am unavailable immediately, I will always aim to respond as soon as possible.

Thank you again for your support, I am looking forward to getting started.

POTHOLES & DAMAGED PAVEMENTS IN ECCLESTON

With the new Reform administration now taking control of St Helens Council, we know there will be a review of council budgets and priorities over the coming months, even though the budgets have been set for the year already by the labour administration.

Your Eccleston Lib Dem FOCUS Team wants to ensure that every possible penny available for highways maintenance is used to improve the roads and pavements across Eccleston, Eccleston Park and Eccleston Hill.

We are asking residents to help us identify potholes and damaged pavements that need attention.

πŸ“ Please comment below or send us a message with:
⭐ The exact location
⭐ A photo if possible
⭐ Whether it is on the road or pavement

For reference, St Helens Council class an β€œactionable pothole” as:
β–ͺ️ 4cm deep or more on a road
β–ͺ️ 2.5cm deep or more on a footpath or crossing ([St Helens Borough Council][1])

We know potholes are more than just an inconvenience, they can damage vehicles, create trip hazards and make our local roads look neglected.

The pictures below are just some of the Potholes that have been identified and reported over the last few days by your Lib Dem FOCUS Team who work all year round, not just at election time, and we will continue pushing for improvements to our local area.

Thank you to everyone who went out and voted for us in Thursday's local election, and to those who supported us throughout not only the campaign but week in, week out.

We held all three seats in Eccleston, and your support means a lot to us. The result is below.

We will have a few days' rest, then get back to it, as there is much to do and be getting on with. We will be back out delivering the FOCUS newsletter shortly, and news and updates can also be found on this page.

Thank you to everyone for their kind words and support today. It means a lot.

The common theme across the day is that we're the only ones who work in our community and are seen, and we don't just turn up at election time like the rest.

If you still haven't voted, but are planning to, please consider me, Geoff and Phil. We won't let you down.

The polling stations are open until 10 pm. You don't need your polling card to vote, but you do need your photo ID. You can also drop off your postal vote at the polling station if you haven't already.

If you are going out to vote today, please consider voting for your Lib Dem FOCUS team.

We work as a team, and unlike the other parties, we don't just turn up three weeks before an election asking for your vote.

We keep in touch through our FOCUS newsletter, which we have been delivering to residents for 36 years. We are easily contactable and always available, and we meet regularly with residents to discuss local issues and answer any questions. As your local councillors, we believe that only by listening to and working with residents can we address the issues that matter most in our community.

This year's local election is an all-out election, meaning all 48 seats in St Helens will be contested on the same day. In Eccleston, Eccleston Park and Eccleston Hill, you will have three votes to choose your local Councillors. Please use your three votes for us so we can continue to represent our local area in the Town Hall.

P.S. Please remember – this is a local election to choose your local Councillors, not a national/general election. If you think local, then please vote local.
