Happy world wildlife day! Caithness is one of the last homes of the UK's rarest bumblebee, the Great Yellow Bumblebee, celebrated in this post by the BBCT. We'll be out looking for them in the Thurso machair habitat they love so much this summer, and using sightings to aid in their conservation.

The United Nations' theme for 2022's World Wildlife Day is “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”. It is estimated that globally there are over a million species at risk of extinction. 🌍 We hope this day drives debate for imperative change needed to reverse the impending fate of threatened species.

Pictured: a Great Yellow bumblebee. One of our rarest bumblebees which has declined seriously over the last 50 years. It was once found all over the UK but is now only found in the machair habitat on the north-west of Scotland, Hebrides, Orkney, Caithness and Sutherland.

Yesterday the laptop closed and the beers came out, when I finished my first draft. Today I'll drink coffee and proof read, but the hard part is over. Expecting it back for edits in a few weeks, but enjoying the relief for now.

It has been a busy and fun year for crafts, for all my friends. As Christmas comes up and I try to support small businesses, I'd love to make something unique for craft heads. Everything in my store can be shipped before Christmas.
Thanks for supporting my hobby! I've made make up removers, headbands, hats, cactuses, a custom cactus shaped sewing caddy, scarves, animals and random things And look forward to new designs next year.
