Delve into the enchanting six acres of Myddelton House Gardens and discover the compelling story of one of Britain’s most famous self-taught gardeners, artists and expert botanists - Edward Augustus Bowles. He lived in Myddelton House from 1865 to 1954 and dedicated much of his life to transforming the gardens with his love of unusual and exotic plants. There’s an impressive range of flora and fau

na to stimulate the senses each season. Explore the unusual plants of the Lunatic Asylum, newly restored Kitchen Garden, colourful Alpine Meadow and the extensive snowdrop collection which bring the gardens to life during February. The gardens are also home to a beautiful carp lake, a Victoria conservatory and a number of historical artefacts collected and treasured by Mr Bowles, including pieces from the original St Paul’s Cathedral and the Enfield Market Cross.

Warm weather is expected to arrive just in time for the weekend, so here is some advise for visiting the gardens:
- Take your walk in small sections - we've lots of benches to take a rest
- Stick to shady area in the hottest times
- Wear a hat, sun cream and bring a water bottle with you

Be mindful of others in the gardens - we're a peaceful place to walk and relax, so please keep this in mind when visiting and remember:
- No bikes or scooters
- No ball games
- No dogs

If you're looking for a livelier outdoor trip, our friends at Forty Hall Estatel have trails for bikes, dogs and open spaces for ball games.
