Make an Autumn Wind Chime 🍁

Create a seasonal hanging decoration inspired by the colours, textures and sounds of autumn in The Exchange’s beautiful garden. 🍂

Using natural materials like shells, dried flowers, feathers, and wood, participants will use simple hand tools to assemble different elements into a unique wind chime to take home.

This hands-on workshop is a chance to slow down, get creative and connect with the natural materials found around us.

This workshop - designed and delivered by Alice Ridgway - is a relaxed and creative way to celebrate the changing season and bring a little piece of the garden home.

Suitable for all ages; however, a parent or carer must stay with children under 12 for the whole session. No experience is needed.

🪸 3D Coral Reef Embroidery Workshop

Join Mandy and create a stunning underwater 3D textile art piece.

Whether you’re completely new to embroidery or already love to stitch, Mandy will gently guide you step by step through a range of raised embroidery techniques in a relaxed and supportive workshop. You’ll learn how to create texture, depth and movement as you stitch a vibrant underwater coral reef.

All materials are included, and you’ll receive everything you need to continue and finish your project at home at your own pace.

Come solo or with friends and learn new skills, meet fellow makers and enjoy a few hours of mindful creativity while making something truly unique. Suitable for beginners and experienced stitchers alike.

Arnold Circus Autumn Plant Fair! 🪴

We’re proud to be selling The Exchange’s very own volunteer-propagated and homegrown plants at the Arnold Circus Autumn Plant Fair.

Autumn is the best time to be planting. The earth is still warm, and there’s moisture in the air.

Alongside the best plant nurseries in the country, including Great Dixter, Beth Chatto and Hardy's Plants, Selina and the team will be selling stock in the historic Arnold Circus garden just for one day.

Specialist nurseries include Moore & Moore and Long Acre for shade plants, Zophian Plants and Coastal succulents for drought-tolerant planting, Edimental Nursery, Kent Wild Flower Seeds and Leahurst.

There will also be cakes from the excellent bakers at Leila's cafe on Calvert Avenue!

Discover, Create, Archive: A Creative Print Workshop 🧑‍🏫

Uncover the hidden history of our local community building in this unique, hands-on workshop with Lauren from Make & Wonder.

We will begin with an exclusive tour of the building and an exhibition of archive photographs from its days as a public library and the more recent restoration project. Drawing inspiration from the architecture and stories around us, you will collect ideas, sketches, and textures. You will then bring these memories to life using monoprinting and collage techniques, collating your prints into a beautiful handmade mini-book of your very own personal archive of collected ideas.

No experience required. All materials are provided. Come solo or with friends and celebrate local history through creativity!

Recommended for ages 16+

This event is part of Art History Festival 2026 organised by the Association for Art History.

Traditional Pottery Techniques for Teens 🤲

Does your teen want to learn a new skill?

In this hands-on ceramics workshop, they can connect with the origins of pottery.

Designed for teens of all skill levels, this session explores foundational hand-building techniques such as pinching and coiling, used by potters for thousands of years before the invention of the wheel.

Participants will transform clay into functional, artistic vessels using only their hands and simple, traditional tools.

Designed and led by Merissa Hylton, a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in London.

This event is part of the Art History Festival 2026 organised by the Association for Art History.

Hello Exchangers. We’ve had a great week, this week!

Lauren Price (local creative educator and founder of Make & Wonder,) visited Crossness for a tour with Gary. Swipe to see some images. 👈🏻👀

We had a film crew in on Monday and Tuesday filming for a US company which was exciting. They were absolutely lovely, so friendly and professional and they took great care of our beautiful building. It was a genuine pleasure to host.

On Wednesday, we hosted the Bexley Creative Health Network Meeting, organised by Kyri & Patrick. We're really proud to be part of local networks like this and the Bexley Cultural Network all working towards supporting community wellbeing through creativity. We know the impact that community and creativity can have on people's mental health, so to team up with others with the same values makes us very happy, and we loved hosting the meeting.
