Today, it has been announced that the energy price cap will increase by 4% from 1 October. We know this will be difficult for some people. If you are worried about today’s news, there are a number of services available that can support households and help make homes more energy efficient.

Our partners, which include Groundwork, Citizens Advice, HOPE 4U, and Act on Energy UK, all specialise in providing local support that meets the needs of the community in which they serve.

They also have access to our £1m Warm Fund, which offers immediate relief, including energy efficiency bundles to use at home.

Act on Energy UK, the energy advice charity are providing a series of free Practical Energy Saving Advice: Save Money on Your Energy Bills training sessions.

These sessions are open to frontline workers and volunteers who support people who may be struggling with their energy bills. The training covers a range of current energy-related topics, including:

- Information on local support schemes and the assistance available
- Recent updates to energy billing
- Understanding energy tariffs and how to switch suppliers to secure the best deal
- Practical energy-saving advice to help households reduce their energy costs

The sessions are designed to increase participants' confidence in supporting residents with energy-related issues and signposting them to the most appropriate sources of advice and assistance.

Training Dates:

- Friday 21 August, 11:00am to 12:00pm
- Wednesday 2 September, 2:00pm to 3:00pm
- Tuesday 15 September, 11:00am to 12:00pm
- Thursday 1 October, 11:00am to 12:00pm
- Tuesday 27 October, 2:00pm to 3:00pm

From the 1 October, VAT won't be added to your energy bill for the electricity you used. Currently, domestic households have 5% VAT added to their energy bills, which will be reduced to zero (for electricity only).

This tax cut could save households around £45/yr, depending on your energy usage.

People who pay for gas and electricity, will still be charged 5% VAT on their gas.

💚From tomorrow, families who visit us with children and present a food voucher will receive a lunch hamper alongside their usual food parcel.

Warwickshire residents who rely on heating oil or LPG to heat their homes could be eligible for financial support to top up their fuel through the Crisis and Resilience Fund.

Warwickshire County Council is working in partnership with Act on Energy UK to help households who may be struggling to keep up with rising fuel costs.
