Fires are more likely to start and spread in these warm, very dry conditions. Be careful with ci******es, barbecues, and anything else that could cause a wildfire, and please put-off plans for a bonfire - take your rubbish to a local waste site instead. Avoid open water - swim safely at your local swimming pool instead.

Make sure you stay warm. If you go outside, dress appropriately. When indoors, keep your heating set to the right temperature. Maintaining at least 18°C in the winter poses minimal health risks when you are properly dressed. If you know someone who might be at special risk, such as an older person living alone, ensure they know how to stay warm and are well stocked with food and medications.
