It’s certainly been an unusual month at Reform Oldham, with everything that has been happening.

It’s very sad that we have lost our Leader, Mark Wilkinson, who has had to stand down due to health issues. I personally believe that he has made the right decision, because your health must always come first. Mark has been an inspiration to me and if I can become half the councillor he was then I will be happy.

What has also saddened me is reading some of the nasty and personal comments that have been made about Mark. You know who you are, and I believe that sort of personal attack is wrong. That’s all I’m going to say about it.

Here in Reform Failsworth, we are continuing to work hard on casework and doing our best to help residents with the issues they are facing.

Across Reform Oldham, we are now moving forward with the process of electing a new Leader, while also working on the by-election to find a candidate to stand and replace Mark Wilkinson.

Myself, Sandra and Andy are here to help, so if you have an issue or concern, please get in touch with us. We will always do our best to see what we can do to help and get issues resolved.

And don’t forget, we also hold our monthly surgery, where you can come along and have a chat with us in person.

If you have not read it already , here is a statement from our party leader Mark Wilkinson Failsworth West.
You will either carry on and support Reform in our 2 year plan or you will allow Labour to gain full control of Oldham council, everyone has a choice.
I will not respond to inflammatory and personal insults to myself or any other Reform Councillor. If you feel that you need to be a keyboard warrior then fill your boots, if you want to meet us at our monthly surgery then drop me a message and I will give you the details and we can have a face to face discussion.

Please read our press release following last nights full council meeting. We have been slated all over social media which I think is unfair considering what we have achieved in our wards especially Failsworth East and West. If you decide in May not to vote Reform then that’s your democratic right but all you will be doing is handing more power to Labour , the exact thing you are having a go at us for.

Oldham Council has finally employed some commonsense and has cancelled the lighting up of the building and event for the prophet Mohammed on Friday 11th September.

The event would have coincided with the 25th anniversary of the 11th September terrorist attacks by Al Qaeda in 2001 and it was pointed out by Reform UK Councillors that this was utterly insensitive.

It is an anniversary that for many is still raw with so many who saw active service in Afghanistan and subsequent theatres of war, in particular those failed to return home, and many who went to work on that sunny September morning and never came home. The attacks saw thousands of British, American and ISAF troops deployed to Afghanistan as a result.
