Kempton Steam Museum Kempton Steam Museum – home of the world's largest working triple-expansion steam engine

Kempton is home to one of the world's largest working triple expansion steam engines, one of two commissioned in 1929 to pump water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to North & East London. The engines are housed in a magnificent Grade II listed Scheduled Monument and are open to the public on advertised dates. With Trooping the Colour taking place this weekend to mark His Majesty King Charles Ill’s official birthday, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to revisit a memorable chapter in our museum’s history.

In 2002, when he was The Prince of Wales, King Charles officially inaugurated the Kempton Steam Museum.

We’re proud to share these moments as we celebrate the King’s official birthday.

Now in their second year, on selected Sundays throughout the year we open our doors with sensory needs in mind - no engine noise, reduced crowds, and plenty of space to explore at your own pace 🥰
