โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฆฎ Planning on walking your dogs? ๐Ÿฆฎโ˜€๏ธ

๐Ÿ• Although dogs need exercise, even when itโ€™s hot, we recommend walking your dog in the early morning or late evening when itโ€™s much cooler. Itโ€™s like us walking around with a thick winter coat all day!

๐Ÿฉ Unlike humans, dogs cannot sweat through their skin so they rely on panting and releasing heat through their paw pads and nose.

๐Ÿš— Never leave your dog in a car, even for a moment - โ€˜not longโ€™ is too long. The temperature in a car can more than double in an hour!

โ˜€๏ธ Signs of heatstroke in dogs include collapsing, excessive panting and dribbling. Worryingly, heat stroke in dogs can be fatal in as little as 15 minutes.

๐Ÿพ Dogs paw pads can burn on hot pavements. Do the tarmac test: if you canโ€™t comfortably hold your hand on tarmac for 5 seconds, then itโ€™s too hot for your dogs paws!

๐Ÿ’ง Provide plenty of clean drinking water and bring water on your walk.

โ›ฑ If you think your dog has heat stroke, move them inside/in to the shade and use cool (not freezing!) water to wet their fur or a cold wet towel laid over their body. Contact your vet immediately.

How about making some tasty ice cube treats with your dogs favourite food inside? ๐ŸงŠ๐Ÿฆด

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine!

Calling all park users who call Bedfont Lakes Country Park their second home!!!
This Wednesday evening we are hosting the first get together for the 'Friends of Bedfont Lakes Country Park' and we are hoping lots of you can join us!

A 'Friends group' acts as another important layer of stewardship and gaurdianship over a green space, working alongside the council parks team and the land managers (us at Lampton Services!) to be a voice for the nature, biodiversity, infrastructure and the general public, and we are excited to reignite the group after a period of dormancy, to support the park through the next years of its journey!

Friends groups can also assist with fundraising, volunteering, advertising and promotion, organising and supporting events, all for the benefit of our beautiful country park and our animal rescue centre too โค๏ธ we will be hoping to get some interest for the roles of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, and more to simply sign up an army of passionate 'Friends' from the local area and beyond!

Please do let us know if you can make it by selecting 'Going' on the event page
We hope to see you at the education area marquee for 6.30pm on Wednesday 20th May ๐Ÿ˜
