Last night we had a great night at Filey Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets for the Filey Literature Festival !
Best-selling author Peter Moore talked about how important Captain Cook and his ship "Endeavour" was to exploration.
Of course we knew this already, but... Moore's book offers new perspectives - for instance from the Polynesian people. And did you know the ship, built in Whitby, was made of Yorkshire Oak?! Not really revered at the time, but... confirmed as a vital ingredient to this world- famous, world- changing expedition!

Kemps General Store & Bookshop have a few signed copies of his book - and we can highly recommend "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" too!

There is more on offer for the rest of the Literature Festival - check it out!
