“I came home, sat down, and immediately got this inner voice saying, “Pick up your pen and write”. So I did. I wrote and wrote. When I looked at the clock again, I had ten minutes before having to leave.

YOUR COMMUNITY YOUR STORY - SOCIAL/CULTURAL MODULE: “Let’s talk about the Community Centre (CC)!”

Join us for the next module in the Your Community Your Story series: Social/Culture on Sunday 23rd August 2 – 6 pm!

For many the CC was the social heart of the Community for decades until its destruction by fire on 11th April 2021. Over 5 years later – let’s honour the past so that we can step into the future together!

In preparation for Ekopia’s Community Hub Initiative CHI’26 Storyfest 22-24 Sept, we will gather stories of what the CC has meant to those present during the 50 years that it served – 1971 to 2021! A rewarding opportunity to share in a small circle for those who remember the daily as well as iconic experiences. Bring your photos! It will also be fascinating for those who have not known the Community with a CC.

One thing we have learned in the first four modules: the generative power of such small groups takes us beyond our horizons and manifests the unexpected. Step into your inner historian / archivist / journalist and help illuminate our shared story.

Workshop format:

* Introductions (both personal and subject)

* Generative free flow space - research, interviews, creative explorations, writing etc.

* Reporting back and next steps

The modules can be taken independently, each one creates resources to enrich the wealth we share, and make our Ecovillage thrive.
