We are looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Coastguard Rescue Officers.

HM Coastguard is the UK's 999 maritime and coastal emergency service, responding to incidents and helping people in distress around our coastline.

As a Coastguard Rescue Officer, there isn't a typical day.

One day you could be searching for a missing person. The next, providing emergency medical care to an injured walker. Or you could be working alongside your team to safely extricate someone trapped in mud.

Every callout is different. Every day is different.

To be eligible, you must:

• Be 18 years or older
• Live and/or work in the local area
• Hold a full driving licence
• Be fit and healthy

No previous Coastguard experience is required — full training is provided.

‼️INCIDENT‼️

Team tasked at 15:11 this afternoon to reports of 2 boats possibly drifting near Greenfield Dock, RNLI Flint Lifeboat was also tasked to launch and investigate.

On scene a Coastguard Rescue Officer met with the first informant who pointed out the 2 boats in question, both boats were in fact safely moored.

The first informant was reassured the right decision was made to call HM Coastguard with these concerns.
As always, we'd much rather attend incidents that turn out to have a positive outcome than risk someone not getting the help they need.

If you're ever genuinely concerned that someone may be in difficulty on or near the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

‼️INCIDENT‼️

On Sunday, Flint Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to a mud rescue at Talacre Beach along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service / Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru were also on scene.

Once the casualty was located, Coastguard mud rescue technicians freed the casualty from the mud and secured onto the sled. With assistance from the Firefighters the Coastguard Team hauled the mud sled by rope back towards a safe area of the beach.

The casualty was then fully assessed by the Coastguard Team and Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust. We are very pleased to say that, apart from being covered in mud, the casualty had no other issues and remained in good humour throughout.

The casualty also made the important decision to sit down rather than continuing to struggle. This was the right thing to do, as excessive movement can cause someone to sink further into soft mud.

⚠️ REMEMBER ⚠️
If you, or someone you see, gets into difficulty in the sea, sand or mud, don't put yourself at further risk trying to help.
📞 Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

🧘 Stay calm.
🛑 Keep movement to a minimum where possible if in sinking mud
🛟 Wait for the specialist teams to arrive.

A calm response and an early call for help can make all the difference.

‼️INCIDENT‼️

Team tasked tonight at 19:25 to reports from RNLI Flint Lifeboat that a number of youths had been witnessed to tie a life ring to the Hawarden Railway Bridge, and another had been thrown into the River.
Lifeboat Crew recovered both life rings and handed over to Coastguard Rescue Officers and HGC Gogledd Sir Fflint / NWP North Flintshire Officers.

Life saving equipment is installed along the River Dee for one reason — to help save lives in an emergency.

When someone gets into difficulty in the water, these rings can provide vital support until emergency services arrive.

You never know when this equipment may be needed, just over a week ago a life ring like these helped save a life whilst a Coastguard Rescue Officer successfully recovered a person from the water in the same area.

Coastguard and Police Officers have been unable to locate where these life rings have come from, further enquires will be made with Cyngor Sir y Fflint / Flintshire County Council.

If you witness anyone damaging or interfering with this important lifesaving equipment, please report it immediately to North Wales Police.

The exciting news is finally out! 🎉

Flint Coastguard Rescue Team are delighted to receive their brand-new Coastguard Rescue Vehicle - a Toyota Hilux, specially equipped as a mud rescue vehicle.

The new vehicle is kitted out to support the Team in responding to incidents involving mud, difficult terrain and challenging coastal environments, helping our dedicated volunteers reach those who need assistance safely and effectively.

This is a fantastic addition to the Team and a valuable asset in supporting our local communities and coastline.

Flint Coastguard Rescue Team respond to 3 incidents in the last 24 hours.

Team tasked along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team to reports of 2 persons in the water possibly in difficulty near Talacre Lighthouse.
RNLI Rhyl were on scene who confirmed all persons were out of the water safe and well.
RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station also tasked to this incident.

Team tasked for a second time to reports of a young child possibly stuck in mud near Parkgate, Wirral.
Stood down en route as the first informant reported child was safely ashore.

Team tasked to reports of a person in the water near Hawarden Railway Bridge, on scene person was located and assisted out of the water by a Coastguard Rescue Officer. Many thanks to Tata Steel Security and Fire Teams for their assistance.

Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team, Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team, North Wales Police, HGC Gogledd Sir Fflint / NWP North Flintshire, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service / Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru, Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust and RNLI Flint Lifeboat were also in attendance

Station Officer Jay Richards has said ‘With the warm weather continuing over the next few days, if you're heading to the coast or taking part in water activities, please stay safe.

The water may look inviting, but it can still be dangerously cold. Plan ahead, wear the right safety equipment, and if you see someone in difficulty, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

We'd rather receive a call made with good intent and not be needed, than arrive too late.

Remember: Phone, Float, Throw 🛟

It could help save a life but never go in after someone.’

Team tasked along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team to assist with a medical incident near SC2 in Rhyl, casualty was assisted and transferred into the care of Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust.

Tasked along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team to reports of a person in the water, stood down prior to leaving Station as person was safe and well.

12/07/26
Tasked to assist Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team search for 2 missing children in Rhyl, stood down prior to arriving on scene as children had been located safe and well.

19/07/26
Tasked to reports of 3 persons and a small inflatable off Flint possibly in difficulty on a sandbank, on scene contact was made and all was safe and well they had been caught out by the tide. RNLI Flint Lifeboat also tasked but stood down prior to launching.

Tasked to search for a high risk missing person in the Talacre area along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team and Llandudno Coastguard Teams, after several hours searching with colleagues from North Wales Police, North East Wales Search and Rescue and RNLI Flint Lifeboat all were stood down pending further investigation. Missing person was found the following day safe and well.

Tasked along with Llandudno Coastguard to reports of a fisherman suffering a fall near Mostyn Dock, person was located and Coastguard Helicopter R336 assisted with extracting the casualty to an awaiting Ambulance. RNLI Flint Lifeboat also tasked but stood down.

Tasked alongside Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team and Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team following reports of an overdue vessel.

It had been confirmed that the vessel was aground on a sandbank, but after around two hours there had been no further contact, raising concerns for the welfare of those on board.

Coastguard Rescue Officers from both sides of the River Dee carried out a visual search of the area. Thankfully, the vessel was soon spotted making its way safely back into Greenfield Docks, allowing all units to stand down.
