‼️INCIDENT‼️

The team was called yesterday evening at 18:27 along with Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team with a missing person search for an elderly male at Dock Rock, Connah’s Quay.

Teams met with North Wales Police HGC Gogledd Sir Fflint / NWP North Flintshire to coordinate and plan an extensive search operation.

Additional support was requested from:

Llandwrog Coastguard Rescue Team
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service / Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru
RNLI Flint Lifeboat
RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat
RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station
🚁 Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936

North East Wales Search and Rescue were also tasked by Police to search some inland areas.

After approximately three hours of searching, the good news came through that the missing male had been located safely inland by Police officers.

Following a full debrief, all units were stood down. A great example of multi-agency teamwork coming together to achieve a positive outcome. 👏

Our volunteers were back on station by 22:30 carrying out kit wash down and replenishing equipment following the incident.

🎓 Training together to keep you safe 🎓

Today, some of the team joined Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team for a joint mud training session.

As volunteers, we give up our time each week to train, sharpen our skills, and learn from one another — growing stronger as a team. Sessions like these are essential to ensure we’re always ready to respond alongside our emergency service colleagues when called upon.

☎️ If you ever find yourself stuck in mud: Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Tonight, some of the Team made a visit to 1st Broughton Scout Group, Flintshire where we gave a talk about who we are, what we do and how to contact us in an emergency along with coastal safety advice.
The Scouts were then able to look at some of our equipment and vehicles.

We were also joined by North East Wales Search and Rescue and Wales Air Ambulance Charity.

An enjoyable evening for all, many thanks for the invite.

Today, two of our new Coastguard Rescue Officers carried out a local knowledge patrol from Flint to Rhyl. This is to ensure they are familiar with the access points we can use along the estuary.

We also met with RNLI Flint Lifeboat at Greenfield Dock who were on a routine exercise, then we made a visit to RNLI Rhyl Lifeboat Station where they were shown around the All Weather Shannon class Lifeboat.

Many thanks to both RNLI crews for their time and kind hospitality.

As 2025 comes to a close we would like to provide a quick update from the Team.

2025 was another busy year for the team, we have attended 73 tasking’s, these ranged from lost and missing persons, persons in the water, medical and related evacuations through to investigating objects that have been sighted, it’s certainly been varied! We won’t stop the count until midnight comes and goes!

During 2025 we welcomed 3 new Coastguard Rescue Officers, all have completed their training and are now operational members of Team.

Our usual training has continued throughout the year including joint training exercises with our flank Teams and RNLI Flint Lifeboat, this working relationship is critical to positive outcomes.

We would also like to pass thanks onto our flank Coastguard teams at Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team, Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team, HM Coastguard Crosby and Llandudno Coastguard. Also our Area management team, Holyhead MRCC, HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936, North Wales Police, HGC Gogledd Sir Fflint / NWP North Flintshire, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service / Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru and welshambulanceservice. And not forgetting the wider family of SAR along the coast; All Coastguard Rescue Teams and MRCCs plus all the RNLI crews.

A huge amount thanks needs to go to the team’s families for being understanding, we regularly leave family events or disturb the sleeping house when we leave in the middle of the night. Also, the support they give us when we return tired and hungry after long and difficult jobs. We really really couldn’t do this without you all!!

And finally, the team would like to wish you a very happy and prosperous new year and a safe 2026
