Detectives are appealing for information following the death of a man.

At 3.50pm on Wednesday 16 September, Merseyside Police were informed by the Ambulance Service that a male had been found unresponsive on the tidal side of the wall at West Kirby Marine Lake, Merseyside.

He was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

It is believed he entered the water around the Flint Castle area during the evening of Monday, 14 September.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Griffith is appealing to anyone who may have seen him to get in touch.

He said: “We are aware from CCTV enquiries there were several people walking, cycling and driving around the area of Flint Caste at the time.

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the man between 6pm and 9.30pm on Monday, 14 September.

“He was an Asian male, described to be around 5ft10 tall and of a medium build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, ripped blue jeans, black trainers, and possibly in possession of a crossbody bag.

“I’m also appealing to anyone who might have any pictures, videos or dashcam around the castle between these times to contact us. Your information or images could be crucial in assisting our investigation.

“My thoughts remain with the man’s family at this difficult time.”

24/09/26 - 21:00

Team tasked along with Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team to assist North Wales Police HGC Gogledd Sir Fflint / NWP North Flintshire with a search for a possible person in the water at the Blue Bridge, Queensferry.

On scene, searches were carried out by Police and Coastguard Rescue Officers on foot from Queensferry to Chester, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Caernarfon and RNLI Flint Lifeboat both completed the same search from air and water.

After approximately 3 hours the area had been fully saturated with nothing found, no witnesses to anyone entering the water or any reported missing persons in the area, all teams were stood down.

This was a call with good intent by the first informant, if you’re ever concerned that someone may be in difficulty on or near the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Team tasked to assist North Wales Police HGC Gogledd Sir Fflint / NWP North Flintshire after reports from Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust of items of clothing found on the coastal path south of Garden City, Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team arrived on scene and a search was carried out. HGC Uned Drôn / NWP Drone Unit and RNLI Flint Lifeboat also launched to assist. After thorough searches were completed with nothing found, all teams were stood down.

Team tasked along with HM Coastguard Crosby to assist Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service with an incident near Runcorn Bridge, on scene incident came to a safe conclusion.

Yesterday, Team tasked at 13:01 along with Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team to assist North Wales Police and HGC Gogledd Sir Fflint / NWP North Flintshire with an incident at the Flintshire Bridge.

On scene incident was safely concluded and all teams were stood down. RNLI Flint Lifeboat also tasked to assist but stood down prior to launching.

As a Coastguard Rescue Officer, there isn't a typical day.

One day you could be searching for a missing person. The next, providing emergency medical care to an injured walker. Or you could be working alongside your team to safely extricate someone trapped in mud.

Every callout is different. Every day is different.

To be eligible, you must:

• Be 18 years or older
• Live and/or work in the local area
• Hold a full driving licence
• Be fit and healthy

No previous Coastguard experience is required — full training is provided.

‼️INCIDENT‼️

Team tasked at 15:11 this afternoon to reports of 2 boats possibly drifting near Greenfield Dock, RNLI Flint Lifeboat was also tasked to launch and investigate.

On scene a Coastguard Rescue Officer met with the first informant who pointed out the 2 boats in question, both boats were in fact safely moored.

The first informant was reassured the right decision was made to call HM Coastguard with these concerns.
As always, we'd much rather attend incidents that turn out to have a positive outcome than risk someone not getting the help they need.

On Sunday, Flint Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to a mud rescue at Talacre Beach along with Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service / Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub Gogledd Cymru were also on scene.

Once the casualty was located, Coastguard mud rescue technicians freed the casualty from the mud and secured onto the sled. With assistance from the Firefighters the Coastguard Team hauled the mud sled by rope back towards a safe area of the beach.

The casualty was then fully assessed by the Coastguard Team and Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust. We are very pleased to say that, apart from being covered in mud, the casualty had no other issues and remained in good humour throughout.

The casualty also made the important decision to sit down rather than continuing to struggle. This was the right thing to do, as excessive movement can cause someone to sink further into soft mud.

⚠️ REMEMBER ⚠️
If you, or someone you see, gets into difficulty in the sea, sand or mud, don't put yourself at further risk trying to help.
📞 Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

🧘 Stay calm.
🛑 Keep movement to a minimum where possible if in sinking mud
🛟 Wait for the specialist teams to arrive.

A calm response and an early call for help can make all the difference.

Team tasked tonight at 19:25 to reports from RNLI Flint Lifeboat that a number of youths had been witnessed to tie a life ring to the Hawarden Railway Bridge, and another had been thrown into the River.
Lifeboat Crew recovered both life rings and handed over to Coastguard Rescue Officers and HGC Gogledd Sir Fflint / NWP North Flintshire Officers.

Life saving equipment is installed along the River Dee for one reason — to help save lives in an emergency.

When someone gets into difficulty in the water, these rings can provide vital support until emergency services arrive.

You never know when this equipment may be needed, just over a week ago a life ring like these helped save a life whilst a Coastguard Rescue Officer successfully recovered a person from the water in the same area.

Coastguard and Police Officers have been unable to locate where these life rings have come from, further enquires will be made with Cyngor Sir y Fflint / Flintshire County Council.

If you witness anyone damaging or interfering with this important lifesaving equipment, please report it immediately to North Wales Police.
