Subject: Year 6 STEM Transition Event – Update and Hot Weather Precautions

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to confirm that the Year 6 STEM Transition Event at Castell Alun will go ahead as planned. We are aware of the current hot weather conditions and want to reassure you that a number of precautions are in place to ensure all pupils remain safe and comfortable throughout the day.

These measures include:
Activities taking place indoors
Plenty of opportunities for regular water breaks
Adjustments to activities where necessary to reduce time spent in direct sunlight
Close supervision by staff at all times

We kindly ask that your child comes prepared for the warm weather by:
Bringing a refillable water bottle
Wearing appropriate clothing (lightweight, comfortable clothing)
Applying sun cream before arrival and bringing some with them if possible
Bringing a hat or cap for additional sun protection

The wellbeing of all pupils is our top priority, and staff will continue to monitor conditions throughout the event.

Dear Parents and Carers,

As you will be aware, we are currently experiencing exceptionally warm weather. In recognition of these conditions, we are making a temporary adjustment to our uniform expectations for the coming week.

We believe that our standard white school shirt, worn with either a school skirt, trousers or tailored school shorts, provides a more comfortable and suitable option for students rather than the black PE kit, which is made from a heavier synthetic material. As a result, students may wear:

School skirt, trousers or tailored school shorts
Standard white school shirt
No tie is required (although students may wear one if they wish)
No jumper is required
Students should continue to wear their usual footwear, which should be plain black, polishable, unbranded school shoes.

With the high temperatures expected to continue, we would also ask for your support in ensuring that students come to school with a refillable water bottle each day so that they can remain well hydrated. Water refill stations are available throughout the school. We also recommend that students apply sunscreen before coming to school and bring sunscreen and a hat with them if they are likely to be outside during lunchtime or PE lessons.

These arrangements will be in place for at least the next few days, and we expect them to continue throughout the week while the exceptional weather remains. We will keep you updated should there be any further changes.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us ensure that students remain as comfortable as possible during this period of very warm weather.
